Season 5, Episode 11- Whatever Happened Happened

First & foremost, I would like to thank everyone for wondering where Schlost has been the past two weeks. I was at SXSW and 2 weeks ago and when I got back I was too tired to blog and then last week I caught the SXSW bug and was too sick to blog. Argh! But I want everyone to know how much I appreciate the love.. it means so much to me! xoxo.

I probably should recap the past two weeks but you can probably find them on lostpedia. My main thoughts out of both episodes were that Sun is definitely Dr.Pierre Chang/Dr Candle/Dr Haliwax/Dr Wickmund's kid.. NOT miles. the reason for this is because she is on another island with a different time and you cannot exist as yourself in the same time period, as we saw with old & young Ben.

Also Sayid killing the chicken was reminiscent of Mr. Eko killing the man for his brother.

and the book that ben gave sayid-
A Separate Reality: Written by Carlos Castaneda in 1971, this allegedly non-fictional book is about a man's experience working with a self-proclaimed sorcerer (Don Juan Matus). The authenticity of the book, along with the rest of Castaneda's series, has been a topic of debate since they were published. Part of the story is about the effects of plants that caused mind alterations - like mushrooms - that help people "see." In the book Don Juan talks of 'allies' who can appear in any form and of one in particular he calls 'little smoke'. More specifically, the copy seen in the episode is the Pocket Book edition first published October 1972. (Literary works) (Religion and Ideologies)

Ok.. onward to this week!

- Kate listening to patsy cline (again). she had a red scrunchie in her hair. was trying to figure out what time period it was based on the scrunchie but then i realized the way it was shot and how we kept seeing it.. and it was red for a reason. does this mean kate will die?

- her song to aaron- perry como catch the falling star and put it in your pocket save it for a rainy day. song has appeared in lost before- On the first occasion, Claire requests that the Stewarts (her child's prospective adoptive parents) sing "Catch a Falling Star" to the baby after he is born, just like her father had done for her. ("Raised by Another") It is revealed in "Par Avion" that her father is Christian Shephard, and that he sang to her as a baby (although this specific song isn't mentioned at that point).
The melody that plays on the Oceanic airplane mobile hanging above the crib in the Staff nursery is from this song. ("Maternity Leave")

- Roger screaming My Son My Son was reminiscent of Michael/Walt. I hope now that Michael is on a new show we don't have to see him. He's really annoying. BTW- roger is uncle rico from napoleon dynamite. friggin sweet.

- Hurley & Miles conversation was genius. Hurley is asking the questions as we are and calls Miles out on the time travel theory. This was definitely written for us because we are all so damn confused with the time travel!

- Kate's sudden honesty. She lied & kept secrets. Now all of the sudden she's honest with Cassidy, a woman she barely knows and gives her money & spills the secret. Why? Did she redeem herself through becoming Aaron's mother? Her & Jack getting off the island changed both of them- Jack became bad/uncaring/drunk, the opposite of what he was.

- Does Kate become a caretaker for Ben? But she is the one who presses to save him unlike Jack who didn't care if a child died. Is this why when Ben requests the people on the list and originally gives Kate clothes & breakfast, he remembers that she once cared for him.

- I think Ben does remember Sayid shooting him. Sayid doesn't want to go back to the island but when we see Ben tell Sayid "I'm done with you" in He's Our You (ep 10) it pisses Sayid off. Ben has to find a way to force Sayid to get back so that the events happen properly (and Ben goes to the hostiles). Sayid is ultimately responsible for the man that Ben becomes and eventually helps out with the purge. This is also why Ben traps Sayid into doing his dirty work for years because Sayid is a killer as Ben points out. This is why it's also always unpleasant for the both of them!

- The weird fake scary Claire (Sclaire!) is what triggers Kate to do the right thing and go back to the island to find her, and let Claire's mom (who btw keeps looking younger and younger & mole free) to raise Aaron. Also everyone looks like someone! But why does Claire's mom say "a Dr. Shepard came & asked questions". Wouldn't she recognize that name as her Babydaddy?

- Cassidy tells Kate she took Aaron for her. We have been thinking Claire is like the virgin mary but maybe Kate is. Mary had to protect Jesus from being killed when he was born. Kate brings Aaron off the island to protect him.

- Also, the Jesus reference in both Ben & Aaron is prominent. We see Ben as a boy up until about 12 and then as a man in his 30s. Richard takes Ben away to raise him (raised by another). We see Aaron as a child and then probably won't again until he is older. We only know about Jesus as a baby and then again as a man- the major part of his life is missing from the bible.

- Is Jack becoming like Locke? He started telling Juliette he came back from them (and she said they didn't need saving) but he said he was supposed to.

- Kate and Sawyer- he wasn't fit to be her boyfriend. Kate & Sawyer were alike, Jack & Juliette were alike but now they've both changed- Sawyer good, Kate good, Jack bad. Juliette who knows!

- Richard brought Ben into the temple.. his innocence will be gone (ruh roh!) Sawyer knows the island has healing properties and in order to save Ben has to hand him over to Richard. Richard also says he doesn't answer to Ellie & Charles (Eloise Hawking & Charles Widmore). He answers to Jacob which eventually Ben does. Does Kate join the hostiles to help out with Ben? Is this how our Losties are eventually saved from the purge?

There's a news post that M Knight Shymalan is directing the series finale. I think it's an April Fools Joke but maybe not.. he does see dead people! http://blog.lostpedia.com/2009/04/m-night-shyamalan.html

Episode 7- The Life & Death of Jeremy Bentham

WOW.

RIP Abadon. you scared me at first, but now I find you sexy. sucks you are dead but you probably really aren't.

So- first & foremost theory- The new people on the crashed plane (Caesar, etc) are the new Losties, Oceanic 6 are the "others"- like Ethan Rom was a plant and Sawyer, Juliette, etc are the Others but the hostiles.

Onward!

- There was a Life Magazine from the '50s in the opening shot. Jeremy's passport said he was born in 1948 but Locke was really born in 1956. Helen was born in 1957. And Widmore remembers meeting Locke when he was 17 in 1954 and said he looks just the same- so if Widmore wasn't Widmore (and a regular person) would he think Locke doesn't age- we all think Alpert doesn't age but are we all time travelling when we see Alpert? So seeing him in 1954 or 2005 would make him the same age. Also, Widmore says to Locke they are about the same age- and they look alike.

- When Ben landed in Tunisia there were no cameras but there were when Ben landed.

- The pilot left with some woman- is this Sun? is she looking for Jin?

- The boats look just like the ones Sawyer, Kate & Carl used to escape the Others camp as well as when Juliette, Sawyer, used when they were all time travelling when they saw Rousseau's frenchies. There were 3 of them.. and then 2.. and it was said the pilot took them.

- Locke eating the mango was very similar to when he ate the orange in the pilot episode & freaked Kate out by doing the Godfather impersonation.

- Why did Widmore and Abadon offer Locke to get in contact with anyone from his past. Isn't he supposed to be dead from Oceanic Flight 815? And they knew the only person he would want to get in touch with that wouldn't know anything (besides Walt) is Helen. I think they faked her death so he wouldn't be curious to look for her.

- Locke always has leg issues- shot in leg, cuts in leg, hatch doors fell on his leg- and he was paralyzed off the island.

- The Dr that treated Locke in the infirmary looked familiar like the guy who owned the restaurant who accused Sayid of torturing his wife. Also- was Nadia in the infirmary?

- Abadon approached Locke in this infirmary & his original rehab center.

- A war coming- wrong side will win. Does Ben win because he kills Penny & gets away with it by getting back to the island?

- Sayid was building schools in Santo Domingo. (escuela de la isla). was it forgiveness for his sins? Also he was married to Nadia for 9 months- if Nadia was in the infirmary and is now dead did Locke time travel off the island? (9 months is interesting.. goes back to the fertility theme)

- Walt was not surprised to see Ben. He has visions of the future. He says they wanted to hurt you- wonder who that is. Ben? Why isn't Locke looking to bring Walt back- Walt is special and Locke knows it. Maybe like Alpert, the time will come for Walt when he is ready. Also, there were yellow license plates & old taxis circa the '90s.

- Locke & Widmore's eyes were 1 black, 1 light when talking to each other.. Locke had 1 black, 1 light when talking about Helen.

- Ben left and returned to off the island in 2005, Locke it's 2007 (according to his passport), Helen died in 2006.

- Like Sayid, Kate, Jack, Sawyer they've all got a soft spot for love despite Jack & Kate saying locke had nothing.

- Once Ben realizes how important Locke is- and how powerful (either because he knew of Hawkins or he was trying to get the info) he killed him. Mainly because the island won't let you kill yourself so he had to help sacrifice Locke. Island wouldn't let Michael & Jack die either.

- Also, Locked wore a hood like a Jedi. Is Ben Darth Vader and really evil? If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine. And Tunisia looks like Tattoine!

- I don't think Locke is really dead.. he went on a "walkabout" as Abadon recommended. Walkabout amongst the living & dead. Locke is dead- off the island but not on- as is Christian. And Hurley sees Eko, Ana Lucia, Charly. it's a threshold btwn living & dead.

- There's a tree that looks like the Joshua Tree- seen at Santa Rosa Medical Center, on the island & where Kate and her high school boyfriend dig up the time capsule.

- Ben is on the "injured" list- he was bloody prior to getting on the island. The survivors disappeared but Ben didn't.. is this the island's way of saying not to come back to the island?

- Westerfield Hotel-
The camera focused on the sign for a few seconds, I'm thinking there must be an anagram somewhere in there. Some letters were illuminated and some were burnt out.

Illuminated: W E S T R F I E L H O T L
Burnt out: E D E
All : W E S T E R F I E L D H O T E L

Using all the letters I came up with "threshold" which seems like it might tie into the themes of where the series is at right now, but that leaves out the letters " W E I E L E F T " or HERE WE LEFT LOST DI
WE LEFT DI LOST HERE
WE LEFT DI HERE LOST
We Left Lost
Wheel Rift Lost

DI= Dharma Initiative
The name Eloise is also in there.
Also- google Westerfield and there's a Swan Westerfield Hotel in the UK.

ok. that's all.. tired, tiny stinks & gonna watch top chef season finale. enjoy!
xoxo

Episode 5- This Place Is Death

great episode. love jin. love how much time traveling helped his english and loved how happy sawyer was to see him. anyway i'm posting this blog which is more questions than theories. i'm sorry it's not the best blog. i'm jet lagged and have major foot pain. i'll write more tomorrow. xoxo

- nadine- looked like a young eloise. thought robert (rousseau's man) looked a bit like farraday.

- frenchie lacombe -Albert Lacombe (28 February 182712 December 1916), commonly known in Alberta simply as Father Lacombe, was a French-Canadian Roman Catholic missionary who lived among and evangelized the Cree and Blackfoot First Nations of western Canada. blackrock/big foot statue!

- this is what happens when you bring a woman here- they chase butterflies. why would they bring a pregnant woman then?

- dude that lost his arm from black smoke. dr candle lost his arm! and whidmore threatened to cut off juliette's hand. these are star wars references! there's a GREAT lost as star wars story here: http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/index?pn=mb&cat=33026&tid=564413

- the black monster is a security system for the temple.

- did anyone notice jin had a red star on his shirt.. hope he's not marked!

- didn't kate have a music box?

- how does charlotte speaks korean- did she learn it from her time at the island- perhaps dr. candle?

- there are so many opps for people to kill ben but no one ever does!

-Charlotte remarks that she knows more about Carthage than Hannibal. Hannibal was a war general from Carthage from around 200 BC. He is considered on of the greatest military commander and tactician through out all of history.

- is charlotte annie or is annie charlotte's mom? who is the american man her mother married?

- was locke on the island on another time.. how does he know how everything always works and what the sacrifices are.

-wouldn't locke having jin's ring be more obvious that he's alive.. wouldn't they have buried him with his ring.

- charlotte's mumblings were from her childhood (chocolate- apollo bar, her dad).

- John has repeatedly stated that Boone was the sacrifice the island demanded, but in leaving the island and eventually dying to bring the others back John becomes a sacrifice to the island.

- Ben was surprised Desmond was looking for Farraday.

- the statue at the church was the statue of the resurrection (Christ/Locke)- jesus sacrificed himself for the people.

- charlotte translates don't come back- she's talking about ji yeon- sun & jin's daughter. coming back to the island is bad- this place is death and the more time you spend the more prone you are to the sickness. because you experience time shifts you are more destined to die because you spent the most time there. this is why claire also tells kate in a dream not to bring back aaron.

- is the island death? people who die don't really die (will we see chaly again?) they lied about everyone's death from the plane crash and you may have to die to get back on the island and once you leave the regular world people are dead. is ben dead.. he doesn't interact with anyone except for a few people.

ok. again more tomorrow.

Episode 4- The Little Prince

on my way home i walk into my elevator and press my floor 8. my neighbor walks in, presses 15. 815! YES. Time for Lost!

- did anyone notice that kate seemed as if she was trying to justify that clair was going to put aaron up for adoption.

- jack says again.. you are either with me or against me.

- charlotte's memory loss. Some are guessing that her problems might be unique to her as it's possible she was born on the Island. That was hinted at when she told Daniel that she was still looking for the place she was born. I've also seen some suggest that there is some significance to the fact that it's her mothers maiden name she cannot remember. perhaps something has changed enough that it has imprinted itself, or un-imprinted itself from her memory.

- miles says everything's back to normal, when it isn't.

- sayid out for 42 hours (number). 3 doses of horse tranquilizers. i tried to find out info on horse tranquilizers and humans but couldn't.

- ben is on our side.. only side he's on is his own.

- dr. clinical services? what was her name?

- who is the nurse? have we seen him before.

- they always ask 'when we are'.. not what year is it.. seems ok.

-charlotte says you don't have to baby me.. is she daniel's daughter?

- when kate is helping claire give birth she says the baby is all of ours.. obviously ben feels the same way!

- kate says sawyer is gone.. sawyer says what he saw was gone now. is this foreshadowing for sawyer's death? he is wearing a red shirt

- those getting bloody noses depends on duration of exposure to island.. these are the illnesses before the vaccination (desmond had to wear a hazmat suit but the losties were ok). since they are time travelling, they aren't exposed to the illness. also miles has no recollection of being born on the island (he's definitely pierre chang/dr. wickmund/halliwax/candle's son)

- ajira indian airline - ajira means island in hindu. check out the site. also, check out the date- first episode of lost!

- saw this theory on a msg board and i agree! Anyone think that the whispers are our losties? They are walking thru the jungle...WHISPERING...travelling thru time...could be they be the whispers we've been hearing? If not them, OTHERS travelling thru time observing & whispering?

- 6 people on the canoe on the island, and the oceanic 6.

- danielle called someone alex on the boat.. assuming this is the father of her baby (alex). interesting that ben says aaron is not her son yet he takes alex as his own daughter.

- why do they keep going between hurley and hugo?

- everyone always looks like someone else - i noticed that claire's mom looked like penny! there's also juliette/jack's ex wife/penny/karen degroot, sun/pierre chang's babymama, young rousseau/kate, frogurt/young charles widmore/carl (alex's boyfriend), woman who answered the door at theresa's house/butcher and so on..

- where is sun's baby.. did someone take her and is sun doing what she has to do to get her back by duping kate? she said to kate last week that she would do whatever it took to keep aaron. or maybe ben is going to tell her he can prove that jin is alive to gain her trust and get her back to the island.

- producers have said that it all goes back to the pilot episode.. looks like jack is in the same suit as when they land.. i think they will time travel back and crash on the island (perhaps in ajira airlines) but that the pilot episode is when it starts all over again.. time loop!

- when rousseau meets jin in the future does she look at him like she's met him before. because clearly she has 16 years ago..

- The Little Prince- published in 1943 by a French Aviator Antoine Saint Exupery. On December 30, 1935 at 14:45 after a flight of 19 hours and 38 minutes Saint Exupéry, along with his navigator, André Prévot, crashed in the Libyan Sahara desert en route to Saigon. by day three of the crash, they experienced audio & visual hallucinations. The essence of the book is contained in the famous lines uttered by the fox to the Little Prince: "On ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." (One cannot see well except with the heart, the essential is invisible to the eyes). Other key thematic messages are articulated by the fox, such as: "You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed" and "It is the time you have spent with your rose that makes your rose so important. "

Interleaved in the first nine chapters the narration's point of view changes from third person to first person. In the first eight days of the narrator being stranded in the desert, the Prince has been telling these stories to the narrator. The prince asks the narrator to draw a sheep (JACK SHEPPARD!)

Chapter 16 begins: "So then the seventh planet was the Earth". On the Earth, he starts out in the desert and meets a snake that claims to have the power to return him to his home planet (A clever way to say that he can kill people, thus "Sending anyone he wishes back to the land from whence he came.")

In 1997, Jean-Pierre Davidts wrote what could be considered a sequel to The Little Prince, entitled Le petit prince retrouvé[8] ('The Little Prince Returns'). In this version, the narrator is a shipwrecked man who encounters the Little Prince on a lone island; the Prince has returned to find help against a tiger who threatens his sheep.

For more on The Little Prince click here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Little_Prince

- saw an interesting theory online that makes sense: My theory is that the people on the island are suffering from the temporal displacement, although not in the brain, in the body. Their body is moving through time, but to them, to their brains it is still 2004. See? Its reverse, as to what Desmond suffered when his body stayed in 2004 but his mind jumped to 1996. That is why the Constant was so important. The O6 is the leftbehinders Constant. It makes sense. The reason they have to go back, is because if they don't, everybody on the island will die. Isn't that what Locke said to Jack? Everybody will die if he didn't return. The O6 need to return to put their minds and bodies back in the same place.

JIIINNNNNN!!! welcome back. thank god you are alive. and we are glad you are hooked on phonics.

i just hope we don't see michael again.
