Season 5, Episode 12- The Incident (Season Finale)

I am not sure how I'm gonna spend the hiatus. it's truly depressing and that episode was a mind fuck!! And we have to wait til 2010.. ARGH!!

- Jacob eating fish.. fish is biblical. The fish Jacob was eating in the beginning was the same fish Jin fed to Claire when Aaron first moved. This could support the theory that Aaron is Jacob. Also, Ben is a Pisces. Interesting original Jacob looked like this:

- I think the dude in the black shirt on the beach is Magnus Hanso, relative of Alvar. Magnus/Magnet. The name "Magnus Hanso" is equal to "The Great Hanso," or "Hanso the Great."
* Magnus was the most popular baby name for boys in Denmark in 2005.
* "Magnus" is a Latin word for "great," "large," "big," "very," "very much," "important," etc.
* Is the Latin form of the Dutch surname "de Groot" (both meaning "The Great").
* Albertus Magnus was a German philosopher and theologian.
* Magnus was one of the greatest alchemists of all time, and was also the discoverer of the legendary "Philosopher's Stone" (which could allegedly be combined with certain metals to create a youth-preserving elixir; that would make its general objective similar to that of the Life Extension Project) and the creator of a supernatural device, an automaton which he named "Android." Using the "angels from the netherworld" and the powers of the Philosopher's Stone, he created "metals and material unknown to this world" and chose them "according to the stars and planets." This "android" was instilled with the powers of speech, thought, and according to some reports, a soul. Upon completion of this project, his student St. Thomas Aquinas destroyed the "diabolic being" and denounced it as "a tool of Satan and a blasphemy to God."
* The "android" could be linked to the Security System.
* Magnus, alias Magnus Lehnsherr, is a member of the Exiles, a group of alternate reality X-Men from the Marvel comic of the same name.
* One of his superpowers is the control of electromagnetic energy.

- Interesting we always hear Patsy Cline when we see Kate in the past. Patsy Cline died in a plane crash at the age of 30. Kate is probably around age 30 (especially since she had a New Kids on the Block lunchbox).

- Guy on the sub told Sawyer "see you on the other side" which Desmond always said. Sawyer wanted to drink his oj and let it be. reminded me of jonestown massacre.

- Dude working on electromagnetic field's name was Edison and he told Pierre Chang he came to change the world.

- What is Lapidus a candidate for?

- Jacob saw Sawyer and Kate as young kids.. but not Jack, Locke or Hurley or Sayid.

- Sayid said "hide in plain sight" you can't hide in plain sight. He get shot doing so. I don't think Sayid will die. If he does, I'll die.

- The people that go out of the way to tell you they are the good guys are the bad guys.

-Juliet was holding her belly. I think she was pregnant. I think she was changing her mind about staying on the island because she was pregnant.. but then she helped give birth to Ethan so maybe she realized she could give birth on the island.

- Rose & Bernard. It looked like Bernard aged & Rose didn't at all. They were very Adam & Eve. Rose & Bernard just wanted to be together and ultimately that's what Sawyer & Juliette wanted. Sawyer kept saying he had a good life here. It was good to see Vincent again!

- Jacob said help me twice (once in the cabin when he whispered and once to Ilana who he was speaking Russian too). Jacob needed Ilana to bring the box with Locke back so that he knew Locke would really be dead so when he came into the confrontation with the clone from the beach he'd know it wasn't really him. Also, Ilana really does look like Ana Lucia, she could be a relative of hers.

- Flannery O'Conner book- "Everything That Rises Must Converge". The book cover on Lost was a dove (religious/Holy Spirit) with an arrow in it. Bernard said they escaped flaming arrows. One of the short stories is entitled "Revelation" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revelation_(short_story) Also she based her book on the theory by Teilhard. He studied what he called the rise of spirit, or evolution of consciousness, in the universe. He believed it to be observable and verifiable in a simple law he called the Law of Complexity/Consciousness. This law simply states that there is an inherent compulsion in matter to arrange itself in more complex groupings, exhibiting higher levels of consciousness. The more complex the matter, the more conscious it is. Teilhard proposed that this is a better way to describe the evolution of life on earth, rather than Herbert Spencer's "survival of the fittest." The universe, he argued, strives towards higher consciousness, and does so by arranging itself into more complex structures.

- LOVE that Jin said Jacob's korean was excellent.. a definite jab at how well his English has become!

- The "12345 surgery" is the story Jack told Kate when he first met her. Jacob told Jack he needed a little push (or more like a kick in the balls!)

- Kate had blood on her hands when she was helping Jack.

-Juliet said "live together die alone"- she never heard anyone say this ever.. we all knew she was gonna go.. she had a red shirt on! it was still very sad, but she knew her fate.

- The Arc Of The Covenant is a sacred container which people believe holds the Ten Commandments and Aaron's Rod.(jesus stick- mr eko!) The rod would be a natural symbol of authority, as the tool used by the shepherd to correct and guide his flock. The way the box was being carried by Ilana's group resembled this. Moses led his people on the Exodus which fake Locke did to Jacob.

- The Latin translation for what Richard answers lies beneath the shadow of the status is "he who will save us all"

- Good Vs Evil- both bad Locke & Jacob had shaded faces, Ben's was exposed. This resembled Jesus, Abraham, Moses who questioned God as Ben did and tested his faith. Jacob couldn't reply with a good enough reason for Ben to trust him (also fake Locke/the devil knew to use Ben as a pawn as Ben so often did with Locke) which further upset Ben so he stabbed him. Also Jacob mentioned the loom- made a curtain, the man behind the curtain.

- Milton's story contains two arcs: one of Satan (Lucifer) and another of Adam and Eve. The story of Satan continues the epic convention of large-scale warfare. It begins after Satan and the other rebel angels have been defeated and cast down by God into Hell, or as it is also called in the poem, Tartarus. In Pandæmonium, Satan must employ his rhetorical ability to organize his followers; he is aided by his lieutenants Mammon and Beelzebub. Belial and Moloch are also present. At the end of the debate, Satan nominates himself to poison the newly-created Earth. He braves the dangers of the Abyss alone in a manner reminiscent of Odysseus or Aeneas.

- Who's coming? The Losties?

- Things aren't going to bode well for Sawyer. He's going to blame Jack for The Incident and taking Juliet away from him! And here we go with the love triangle again.. ugh.

- LOVED the white background with the black letters.. looked like the nuclear holocaust which it was!

RIP Juliet.
RIP Pierre Chang's arm.

Season 5, Episode 15 Follow The Leader

Holy crap it's been a while since I've blogged. I'm sorry.. sometimes it feels like homework and I'm just too tired or I was sick or I was on vacation but no worries people- SCHLOST is back!
um just in time for the season finale next week : /

- the ship in the bottle resembled the black rock. i think richard was on the black rock.

- locke asserting himself as the leader. he hunted a boar. assured ben he wasn't going to stage a coup and said he was going to save his people.

- richard's eyes were jet black when he saw locke back. i also think richard lies about them all dying or it's a cover up, similar to the lies the Oceanic 6 told.

- the guy beating jack looked just like keamy.

- the sub manifest.. same as plane manifest. they questioned hurley on there.. and hurley was the keeper of the plane manifest.

- juliette had on a red shirt. so did hurley under his dharma suit (and his hair was much grayer). are they gonna die? sayid had on a purple shirt, but now it's black and jack/kate/locke/ben all had on blue/purple tones.

- the knife and the compass were the same ones richard had when he went to visit locke as a kid. i think the compass came from the black rock.

- locke's out of body experience.. his timing was impeccable. locke is dead. and can time travel OR his soul can embrace different bodies. maybe he's the smoke monster?

- love that sawyer wants to buy microsoft stock. also in last week's episode, daniel had a copy of wired that whidmore moved. jj abrahms guest edits wired this month!

- - Eloise/Penny. i think eloise is pregnant. Unless Dan graduated Oxford at age 19, she is pregnant with someone other than him, most likely Penny (although i do think dan graduated from oxford early, i like that penny could also be eloise's daughter). When Ben went to kill Penny, she told him that she had no biological connection to Charles Widmore. This means that either A) Eloise had a relationship with another man, further explaining the 'complicated' relationship with Charles that Richard mentioned, or B) Penny has no relation to either Charles or Eloise.

- Sawyer drew the map that Ben eventually gives to Rousseau. Ben has a map to the dharma temple http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/File:Bens_Temple_Map.jpg and I think the one Sawyer draws could be this same one. It appeared to be the same notebook.

- is that a young rose in the hostiles that was walking behind locke? where are rose & bernard?

- Dr. Chang gets people off the island.. but there IS an incident as he discusses in a video (and i think this is when he may lose his arm). The finale is called The Incident Parts 1 & 2.

- I think that when John said he was going to kill Jacob what he really meant was that he was going to prove to the group of Others that Jacob Does NOT exist at all.
Thus killing the very notion that he is real and making himself the true leader. After all....John emphasized in his speech that nobody has ever seen Jacob. So basically he believes Jacob doesn't exist and wants to prove it to everyone. I tend to think that maybe Jacob was just an imaginary person that Richard came up with to give the group of people a higher sense of purpose.

OR

- aaron is jacob- he is the chosen one. Richard has to be on the hunt for a chosen one.. always a boy. he took ben by default and thought he would be the one. he wasn't. locke failed the test when he was younger. aaron has always been special. if jacob exists, he's aaron (maybe aaron was born years ago when Richard came to the island and time travelled as jacob). also he is the chosen one because perhaps he is the product of an ongoing feud of whidmore & sheppard. maybe aaron's babydaddy is a relative of whidmore and i could see there being a feud with those two. but he is the product of a warring society and brings peace to the island. this theory could better be explained by karen.

OR

- maybe jacob shapeshifts into different forms and was vincent at some point.

post your theories!
until next week schlosties..

Season 5, Episode 11- Whatever Happened Happened

First & foremost, I would like to thank everyone for wondering where Schlost has been the past two weeks. I was at SXSW and 2 weeks ago and when I got back I was too tired to blog and then last week I caught the SXSW bug and was too sick to blog. Argh! But I want everyone to know how much I appreciate the love.. it means so much to me! xoxo.

I probably should recap the past two weeks but you can probably find them on lostpedia. My main thoughts out of both episodes were that Sun is definitely Dr.Pierre Chang/Dr Candle/Dr Haliwax/Dr Wickmund's kid.. NOT miles. the reason for this is because she is on another island with a different time and you cannot exist as yourself in the same time period, as we saw with old & young Ben.

Also Sayid killing the chicken was reminiscent of Mr. Eko killing the man for his brother.

and the book that ben gave sayid-
A Separate Reality: Written by Carlos Castaneda in 1971, this allegedly non-fictional book is about a man's experience working with a self-proclaimed sorcerer (Don Juan Matus). The authenticity of the book, along with the rest of Castaneda's series, has been a topic of debate since they were published. Part of the story is about the effects of plants that caused mind alterations - like mushrooms - that help people "see." In the book Don Juan talks of 'allies' who can appear in any form and of one in particular he calls 'little smoke'. More specifically, the copy seen in the episode is the Pocket Book edition first published October 1972. (Literary works) (Religion and Ideologies)

Ok.. onward to this week!

- Kate listening to patsy cline (again). she had a red scrunchie in her hair. was trying to figure out what time period it was based on the scrunchie but then i realized the way it was shot and how we kept seeing it.. and it was red for a reason. does this mean kate will die?

- her song to aaron- perry como catch the falling star and put it in your pocket save it for a rainy day. song has appeared in lost before- On the first occasion, Claire requests that the Stewarts (her child's prospective adoptive parents) sing "Catch a Falling Star" to the baby after he is born, just like her father had done for her. ("Raised by Another") It is revealed in "Par Avion" that her father is Christian Shephard, and that he sang to her as a baby (although this specific song isn't mentioned at that point).
The melody that plays on the Oceanic airplane mobile hanging above the crib in the Staff nursery is from this song. ("Maternity Leave")

- Roger screaming My Son My Son was reminiscent of Michael/Walt. I hope now that Michael is on a new show we don't have to see him. He's really annoying. BTW- roger is uncle rico from napoleon dynamite. friggin sweet.

- Hurley & Miles conversation was genius. Hurley is asking the questions as we are and calls Miles out on the time travel theory. This was definitely written for us because we are all so damn confused with the time travel!

- Kate's sudden honesty. She lied & kept secrets. Now all of the sudden she's honest with Cassidy, a woman she barely knows and gives her money & spills the secret. Why? Did she redeem herself through becoming Aaron's mother? Her & Jack getting off the island changed both of them- Jack became bad/uncaring/drunk, the opposite of what he was.

- Does Kate become a caretaker for Ben? But she is the one who presses to save him unlike Jack who didn't care if a child died. Is this why when Ben requests the people on the list and originally gives Kate clothes & breakfast, he remembers that she once cared for him.

- I think Ben does remember Sayid shooting him. Sayid doesn't want to go back to the island but when we see Ben tell Sayid "I'm done with you" in He's Our You (ep 10) it pisses Sayid off. Ben has to find a way to force Sayid to get back so that the events happen properly (and Ben goes to the hostiles). Sayid is ultimately responsible for the man that Ben becomes and eventually helps out with the purge. This is also why Ben traps Sayid into doing his dirty work for years because Sayid is a killer as Ben points out. This is why it's also always unpleasant for the both of them!

- The weird fake scary Claire (Sclaire!) is what triggers Kate to do the right thing and go back to the island to find her, and let Claire's mom (who btw keeps looking younger and younger & mole free) to raise Aaron. Also everyone looks like someone! But why does Claire's mom say "a Dr. Shepard came & asked questions". Wouldn't she recognize that name as her Babydaddy?

- Cassidy tells Kate she took Aaron for her. We have been thinking Claire is like the virgin mary but maybe Kate is. Mary had to protect Jesus from being killed when he was born. Kate brings Aaron off the island to protect him.

- Also, the Jesus reference in both Ben & Aaron is prominent. We see Ben as a boy up until about 12 and then as a man in his 30s. Richard takes Ben away to raise him (raised by another). We see Aaron as a child and then probably won't again until he is older. We only know about Jesus as a baby and then again as a man- the major part of his life is missing from the bible.

- Is Jack becoming like Locke? He started telling Juliette he came back from them (and she said they didn't need saving) but he said he was supposed to.

- Kate and Sawyer- he wasn't fit to be her boyfriend. Kate & Sawyer were alike, Jack & Juliette were alike but now they've both changed- Sawyer good, Kate good, Jack bad. Juliette who knows!

- Richard brought Ben into the temple.. his innocence will be gone (ruh roh!) Sawyer knows the island has healing properties and in order to save Ben has to hand him over to Richard. Richard also says he doesn't answer to Ellie & Charles (Eloise Hawking & Charles Widmore). He answers to Jacob which eventually Ben does. Does Kate join the hostiles to help out with Ben? Is this how our Losties are eventually saved from the purge?

There's a news post that M Knight Shymalan is directing the series finale. I think it's an April Fools Joke but maybe not.. he does see dead people! http://blog.lostpedia.com/2009/04/m-night-shyamalan.html

Season 5, Episode 8- LeFleur

i know you are all avid schlost readers so to prove my dedication, i'm writing this with a giant migraine.. it may be brief, but enjoy. also kinda bummed that we are missing a week. if it's cuz of stupid dancing with the stars i'm gonna be real mad!

- The Statue- either was Anubis- god of the underworld. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anubis
Or Thoth- god of time http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thoth

-Polar bears figure a way out of their cages. this is before the purge- after, everything went buckwild which is why they roam the island. Dharma kept them there for experiments.

- A baby was able to be born, because time wasn't skipping. Now we are skipping through time because Ben messed with the donkey wheel, it caused mothers & babies to die. This is before Ben gets to the island. There is a theory that Ben was the one who is the baby, but Ben was born off the island (although he does lie to either Locke or Jack, I can't remember) that he was born on the island. The timing- 1974 doesn't make sense. All the lost fanatics seem to think the baby is Ethan. I'm going for frogurt. JK!

- Is Amy Amelia- the one that came to Juliet's house at the book club? http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Amelia

- Jim LeFluer- Doc Jenson writes an amazing piece on EW.com- check out his comparisons on LeFluer. http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,1550612_20250233_20262780_2,00.html Sawyer always lies so just picked a creole name, and French (rousseau connection). When asked who put him in charge, he said he'll figure it out similar to past leaders Locke & Jack.

- Daniel is not like Alpert and DOES age. when we see him in the Dharma suit, it's now.. similar to Sawyer wearing a DI suit. He became part of Dharma. Since they time travelled back this is also how he will know that Charlotte will eventually die, he sees her as a child and warns her not to come back- he's been through all of this.

- The Purge- think that the LOSTIES caused (or help cause) the purge. When Sawyer sees kate, hurley & jack he gets them to come undercover and join dharma (there's a picture that ran in Us Weekly of Jack in a DI suit). When the purge happened, Ben protects them - they escape. Ben knows they get off the island which is why they are on the list to come to the dock. Ben needs to make sure they don't remember the purge. Once you get off the island your memory is fuzzy. They've all been to the island before, as children because their parents were involved. and ben knows they are special to the island, unlike Dharma that came to exploit it.

- Alpert is OLD- i think he's Egyptian (hence the eyeliner-kohl- reference). Alpert needs to protect his land.. also the references to the Ankh, Statue. Keamy also had an Ankh-like tattoo and the doors to the frozen donkey wheel were shaped like an ankh. I think Chaly had an ankh necklace or shirt too.
The ankh: The Egyptian hieroglyph that reads eternal life. It is also known as a handled cross. Egyptian gods are often depicted holding one in their hands. Paul's necklace was an ankh. The four-toed statue appears to be holding one in each hand

- The Dr trying to help Amy looked like Daniel. He could also be the same dr (dr stillman/dr brooks) from Santa Rosa Mental institute. Another theory- Santa Rosa is filled with people who got off island, the crazy guy who played Connect 4 with Hurley and said the numbers, Locke's mother, Hurley, Libby. Also libby's husband was named David who died of an illness- Libby was on the island in dharma and got off. Maybe they let woman & children go. Dave was Hurley's imaginary friend in the institute that was always telling him to escape. Also the pictures from Santa Rosa were the same ones on Kate's fridge that Aaron made.. looks like arts & crafts from the island, along with polar bear pics. Those who get off the island have fuzzy memories- which is why hurley semi remembers Libby. we will definitely see her again soon. Also, Dr. Curtis from the institute looks like Pierre Chang/Dr. Candle/Dr. Wickmun/Dr. Hailwax and loos like Mr. Paik.

- Horace says Sawyer isn't "Dharma Material". is it because he used a gun? Dharma was for peace unless to protect themselves against the Hostiles.

- Sawyer had to give up Paul's body.. to make a deal- an eye for an eye. Interesting Amy was insisting on burying the bodies- that's very religious.

- Is Horace Jacob.. horace was a leader and did build the cabin.

- Does Sawyer remember Kate? and vice versa. maybe he was referring to Cassidy, his babymama.

- Phil and Jerry, brownie eating 1970s hippies, seem to be references to Phil Lesh and Jerry Garcia of The Grateful Dead

- was juliette pregnant.. looked like it to me! Ugh. Jawyer!

Can't believe i have to wait two weeks til Namaste! ugh! OH crap! i'll be on a plane when lost is on. Does anyone know if jet blue has abc????

Episode 7- The Life & Death of Jeremy Bentham

WOW.

RIP Abadon. you scared me at first, but now I find you sexy. sucks you are dead but you probably really aren't.

So- first & foremost theory- The new people on the crashed plane (Caesar, etc) are the new Losties, Oceanic 6 are the "others"- like Ethan Rom was a plant and Sawyer, Juliette, etc are the Others but the hostiles.

Onward!

- There was a Life Magazine from the '50s in the opening shot. Jeremy's passport said he was born in 1948 but Locke was really born in 1956. Helen was born in 1957. And Widmore remembers meeting Locke when he was 17 in 1954 and said he looks just the same- so if Widmore wasn't Widmore (and a regular person) would he think Locke doesn't age- we all think Alpert doesn't age but are we all time travelling when we see Alpert? So seeing him in 1954 or 2005 would make him the same age. Also, Widmore says to Locke they are about the same age- and they look alike.

- When Ben landed in Tunisia there were no cameras but there were when Ben landed.

- The pilot left with some woman- is this Sun? is she looking for Jin?

- The boats look just like the ones Sawyer, Kate & Carl used to escape the Others camp as well as when Juliette, Sawyer, used when they were all time travelling when they saw Rousseau's frenchies. There were 3 of them.. and then 2.. and it was said the pilot took them.

- Locke eating the mango was very similar to when he ate the orange in the pilot episode & freaked Kate out by doing the Godfather impersonation.

- Why did Widmore and Abadon offer Locke to get in contact with anyone from his past. Isn't he supposed to be dead from Oceanic Flight 815? And they knew the only person he would want to get in touch with that wouldn't know anything (besides Walt) is Helen. I think they faked her death so he wouldn't be curious to look for her.

- Locke always has leg issues- shot in leg, cuts in leg, hatch doors fell on his leg- and he was paralyzed off the island.

- The Dr that treated Locke in the infirmary looked familiar like the guy who owned the restaurant who accused Sayid of torturing his wife. Also- was Nadia in the infirmary?

- Abadon approached Locke in this infirmary & his original rehab center.

- A war coming- wrong side will win. Does Ben win because he kills Penny & gets away with it by getting back to the island?

- Sayid was building schools in Santo Domingo. (escuela de la isla). was it forgiveness for his sins? Also he was married to Nadia for 9 months- if Nadia was in the infirmary and is now dead did Locke time travel off the island? (9 months is interesting.. goes back to the fertility theme)

- Walt was not surprised to see Ben. He has visions of the future. He says they wanted to hurt you- wonder who that is. Ben? Why isn't Locke looking to bring Walt back- Walt is special and Locke knows it. Maybe like Alpert, the time will come for Walt when he is ready. Also, there were yellow license plates & old taxis circa the '90s.

- Locke & Widmore's eyes were 1 black, 1 light when talking to each other.. Locke had 1 black, 1 light when talking about Helen.

- Ben left and returned to off the island in 2005, Locke it's 2007 (according to his passport), Helen died in 2006.

- Like Sayid, Kate, Jack, Sawyer they've all got a soft spot for love despite Jack & Kate saying locke had nothing.

- Once Ben realizes how important Locke is- and how powerful (either because he knew of Hawkins or he was trying to get the info) he killed him. Mainly because the island won't let you kill yourself so he had to help sacrifice Locke. Island wouldn't let Michael & Jack die either.

- Also, Locked wore a hood like a Jedi. Is Ben Darth Vader and really evil? If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine. And Tunisia looks like Tattoine!

- I don't think Locke is really dead.. he went on a "walkabout" as Abadon recommended. Walkabout amongst the living & dead. Locke is dead- off the island but not on- as is Christian. And Hurley sees Eko, Ana Lucia, Charly. it's a threshold btwn living & dead.

- There's a tree that looks like the Joshua Tree- seen at Santa Rosa Medical Center, on the island & where Kate and her high school boyfriend dig up the time capsule.

- Ben is on the "injured" list- he was bloody prior to getting on the island. The survivors disappeared but Ben didn't.. is this the island's way of saying not to come back to the island?

- Westerfield Hotel-
The camera focused on the sign for a few seconds, I'm thinking there must be an anagram somewhere in there. Some letters were illuminated and some were burnt out.

Illuminated: W E S T R F I E L H O T L
Burnt out: E D E
All : W E S T E R F I E L D H O T E L

Using all the letters I came up with "threshold" which seems like it might tie into the themes of where the series is at right now, but that leaves out the letters " W E I E L E F T " or HERE WE LEFT LOST DI
WE LEFT DI LOST HERE
WE LEFT DI HERE LOST
We Left Lost
Wheel Rift Lost

DI= Dharma Initiative
The name Eloise is also in there.
Also- google Westerfield and there's a Swan Westerfield Hotel in the UK.

ok. that's all.. tired, tiny stinks & gonna watch top chef season finale. enjoy!
xoxo

Episode 6-316

First.. welcome Tracey (sn: sonovabitch) who gets the medal for watching all five seasons in record time (as far as i know!) She started Jan 1 and ended Feb. 15. Congrats & welcome to SCHLOST my friend!

AMAZING episode.. cannot wait til next week!

- is jack wearing same suit as when the plane crashed? producers said it all goes back to the pilot.

-kate says are we back.. jack says i'm back.

- the pendulum.. how thrilling, which is The Lamppost. The Lamppost from Chronicles of Narnia (thanks Eric!) written by CS Lewis - charlotte.. also I think the lamppost is one of the dharma symbols. Also references the lantern that was destroyed in Jacob's cabin which Ben later hangs up (after it was destroyed) as working and Christian uses when talking to Locke.

The Lamp-post is a major landmark in the country of Narnia, located in the northern unpopulated area, which was named Lantern Waste after it. It is a London streetlamp standing in the middle of the forest, which shines day and night. It was at the lamp-post that Lucy Pevensie first met Mr. Tumnus.

The Lamp-post originated in the first few days of Narnia's creation, from a bar of iron which Queen Jadis had torn from a London lamppost and thrown at Aslan. Aslan at the time was creating the living things of Narnia by his song, which made the ground of Narnia magically fertile and gave birth to the animals and plants of the world. The iron bar fell to the ground and, under the influence of Aslan's song, gave birth to a new lamppost, which grew from a few feet high to a full sized streetlight in a few hours.

The Lamp-post's ability to burn continuously without fuel (London streetlamps run on gas) may be due to the fact that, although made of iron, it is an organic living thing, not a manufactured artifact as other streetlamps are. The Lamp-post in the movie (see picture) seems to have 'roots'.

- Ben didn't look in the eye when he said he had never seen the lamppost before. Jack asked if he was lying.. Kate said usually people lie when they can't look in some one's eyes but Jack does the opposite.

- Water= rebirth-baptism- reentry into island

- Desmond says whatever Hawking tells you.. ignore it (do the opposite like sayid told hurley about Ben)

- Think there is going to be a jack vs locke struggle. locke always trusted ben, jack is now trusting ben.. he was the man of science but it slowly becoming man of faith. everything jack did in the episode was a test of faith (putting the shoes on locke). Locke had to kill himself as a sacrifice to the island (faith). Once they do their good deed on the island they redeem themselves- and move onto the next level of spirituality, eternal youth (ana lucia, libby, chaly, boone, ecko, claire, shannon). Ben also told Jack he had to take a leap of faith. And Jack tells Locke the things he is doing are crazier than him.

-interesting way locke killed himself- by hanging.. to hang yourself you have to use your legs. can he walk off the island?

- jack had to get something that belonged to his father. he got the shoes. he mentioned white tennis shoes which Christian was wearing in the pilot episode

- was Ben praying for forgiveness of what he may do to Penny?

- Thomas the Apostle.. when Jesus wanted to return to Judea knowing he would be murdered there, the others said let us also go so that we might die with him. He refused to acknowledge Jesus' resurrection. (statue that was shown in front of the church last week). Thomas needed to touch Jesus' wounds to be convinced and of course he was. We are all convinced sooner or later. Jack is Thomas, Locke is Jesus. This also references many other Thomas' on the show:
In Greek, the name Thomas means "Twin." The name, or variations of it, appears frequently in Lost. Including Claire's babydaddy, there are: - Ben said he had a loose end that needed tying up. Does he know Jack will give Locke a pair of shoes? Jack made a big deal of tying the shoes on Locke.

- There was a blue shadow on jack's face- who was in the background? libby? i tried to re-watch and it looks like the chick from the movied Sideways.

- Loved the rabbit Ray a had.

- Ray aka Granddad said in response to Jack's ready to go- the sooner the better. Where i go is somewhat better than here. Where I go they can't find me. What would I do without my magic shows? And Jack says he's going away for a while.. somewhere better than here. Ray says "touche" Is Ray Jacob?

In the casting call, Ray was named "Hal", and described as "70s, Caucasian. Successful, handsome and charming rogue with a twinkle in his eye. A guy who can still fight the establishment and win."

- What happened to Aaron? I bet Claire came back as a ghost and told Kate not to take him to the island. So she gave him to Claire's mom.

- Who flies to guam? Guam is like the end of the earth (ps forests on guam are called boonies!) On ajira airway's site if you try to book a flight it automatically sends you to Guam and if you print the boarding pass it says "Landless". Also the symbol of ajira airways is a tiger- the years of the tiger are 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010. thinking they land in one of those years? but then we see Jin as a Dharma guy. the Purge happened in 1992 and Rousseau lands in 1988. I think he's going undercover as a Dharma to protect himself. maybe he's in1974? Also the Grateful Dead are playing in the van (Locke is the Grateful Dead).

- who was the airline guy- one of sayid's frieds from the past.

- Hurley was reading Y the Last Man by brian k vaughn which is about the only man to survive the mysterious simultaneous death of every male mammal on Earth. The virus kills everyone that has a Y chromosome including embryos, fertilized eggs, and even sperm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y_The_Last_Man

- 78 seats 7 + 8 = 15. 23C was Jack's seat on the pilot episode .. tonight it was 8A.

- hurley was late for the plane.. and now ben was.

- Hurley did not want to go back to the island. and why did he have a guitar? I think Charlie told him to go back and bring one of his guitars with him. Charlie or Abbingdon.

- Sayid also did not want to go back to the island.. but was forced to as he was cuffed (like kate was to the marshal) to that woman (who looked like ana lucia's mom). We see next week this woman is talking to locke- perhaps he approached her? he was forced into it, maybe by the work he is doing for ben.

- Ben reading Ulysses (he has black eyes). Jack asked how can you read and he said my mother taught me. his mother died in childbirth! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulysses_(novel)

- Lapidus was supposed to fly Oceanic Flight 815.

- Did Charles Widmore beat up Ben? Did he harm Penny? Ben said "you changed all the rules". Or did Desmond beat up Penny to protect her from him? Did he kill Penny and Desmond will go back to the island to seek revenge on him?

- also people claim to have seen Shannon's ghost with Jin in the dharma van. i watched it a few times frame by frame and didn't see anything.

- John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

ok. that's it for now.. enjoy!

Episode 5- This Place Is Death

great episode. love jin. love how much time traveling helped his english and loved how happy sawyer was to see him. anyway i'm posting this blog which is more questions than theories. i'm sorry it's not the best blog. i'm jet lagged and have major foot pain. i'll write more tomorrow. xoxo

- nadine- looked like a young eloise. thought robert (rousseau's man) looked a bit like farraday.

- frenchie lacombe -Albert Lacombe (28 February 182712 December 1916), commonly known in Alberta simply as Father Lacombe, was a French-Canadian Roman Catholic missionary who lived among and evangelized the Cree and Blackfoot First Nations of western Canada. blackrock/big foot statue!

- this is what happens when you bring a woman here- they chase butterflies. why would they bring a pregnant woman then?

- dude that lost his arm from black smoke. dr candle lost his arm! and whidmore threatened to cut off juliette's hand. these are star wars references! there's a GREAT lost as star wars story here: http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/index?pn=mb&cat=33026&tid=564413

- the black monster is a security system for the temple.

- did anyone notice jin had a red star on his shirt.. hope he's not marked!

- didn't kate have a music box?

- how does charlotte speaks korean- did she learn it from her time at the island- perhaps dr. candle?

- there are so many opps for people to kill ben but no one ever does!

-Charlotte remarks that she knows more about Carthage than Hannibal. Hannibal was a war general from Carthage from around 200 BC. He is considered on of the greatest military commander and tactician through out all of history.

- is charlotte annie or is annie charlotte's mom? who is the american man her mother married?

- was locke on the island on another time.. how does he know how everything always works and what the sacrifices are.

-wouldn't locke having jin's ring be more obvious that he's alive.. wouldn't they have buried him with his ring.

- charlotte's mumblings were from her childhood (chocolate- apollo bar, her dad).

- John has repeatedly stated that Boone was the sacrifice the island demanded, but in leaving the island and eventually dying to bring the others back John becomes a sacrifice to the island.

- Ben was surprised Desmond was looking for Farraday.

- the statue at the church was the statue of the resurrection (Christ/Locke)- jesus sacrificed himself for the people.

- charlotte translates don't come back- she's talking about ji yeon- sun & jin's daughter. coming back to the island is bad- this place is death and the more time you spend the more prone you are to the sickness. because you experience time shifts you are more destined to die because you spent the most time there. this is why claire also tells kate in a dream not to bring back aaron.

- is the island death? people who die don't really die (will we see chaly again?) they lied about everyone's death from the plane crash and you may have to die to get back on the island and once you leave the regular world people are dead. is ben dead.. he doesn't interact with anyone except for a few people.

ok. again more tomorrow.
