SECURITY BREACH AT COMIC-CON 2008‏

ATTENTION ALL RECRUITS
RE: SECURITY BREACH AT COMIC-CON 2008

As many of you may be aware there have been a number of security breaches in recent days related to the nature of the Dharma Initiative's latest research.

Apart from the leak of a sensitive internal communication there was also the unauthorized release of confidential video documentation during a sponsored panel discussion with the makers of the TV show "LOST" at Comic-Con 2008 in San Diego. Consequently, the person responsible for this breach, a promising recruit by the name of Dan Bronson, has been expelled from the volunteer program and had his Dharma Initiative membership permanently revoked. Furthermore, the Dharma Initiative has withdrawn their sponsorship from "LOST".

The Dharma Initiative must stress that the video material leaked at Comic-Con 2008 was viewed entirely out of context. Furthermore, the way in which the material was presented utterly distorted its significance and credibility as scientific data.

The Dharma Initiative is extremely disappointed with this outcome and has ordered a security audit of all departments. As part of this audit the DharmaWantsYou recruiting website will undergo a security upgrade in the next few days.

Upon completion of this upgrade a date will be announced for the official commencement of Volunteer Assessments.

All recruits are reminded that the unauthorized release of confidential information pertaining to the details of your activities within the Dharma Initiative will result in instant dismissal from the volunteer program.

Namaste.

Lost-Comic Con stuff!

Check it out!

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/37661

* The island did not travel when the hatch imploded, but something did happen.
* We'll see more of Locke and Jin on the show. "Dead is a relative term," and there's still a lot of story to be told about those characters.
* Their favorite episodes are "The Constant" (Carlton) and "Exodus" (Damon). Damon adds that he really liked season four, and he admitted the show has had its "ups and downs."
* They reiterated that getting an end date for the show has really reinvigorated it in terms of giving it energy and purpose.
* We will see Rousseau's story this year, but it won't exactly be a flashback. We're done with flashbacks and flashforwards, but there will be some time-jumping excitement anyway. There will be storytelling on and off the island, and in different periods of time.
* Vincent the Dog is fine and will be in season five — and will survive until the end of the show.
* The Jack/Kate/Sawyer triangle is central to the show, and we'll see more interesting permutations of it over the next two seasons. And Kate will see Sawyer again.
* The nameless extras in the Zodiac boat with Farraday, stranded with the island gone, may be toast, but "things are looking up" for Farraday himself.
* Speaking of Daniel, he has a little notebook that tells him stuff that's happened, and stuff that will happen soon, and it's going to figure prominently in season five.
* Richard Alpert is "quite old," thanks to the island's mystical properties, and we'll see more of his history this year. We'll also see him barefoot in "the near future, pun intended," so we'll find out how many toes he has.

On Saturday at the San Diego Comic-Con, a huge crowd of Lost fans was treated to a Q&A session with the famous team of Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, several knick-knacks, a few pieces of scoop and one big surprise.

To kick things off, "Darlton" handed out specific gifts to each person who asked a question. The best exchange: An uncanny Hurley look-a-like was awarded a Dharma bottle of ranch dressing.

Later, after someone posed a question about the Jack/Kate/Sawyer love triangle, the exec producers began bickering about how the action figure they were about to gift the fan didn't really look like Matthew Fox. Cue the surprise entrance of... Matthew Fox! The Losties went nuts because not five minutes earlier Darlton said the panel was only going to involve the two of them (if only because the cast is so hard to track down before they start shooting in Hawaii).

The main draw for any Lost diehard, of course, is the vague promise of scoop. As far as new intel goes, it was typically scarce. The execs revealed that Jin (who last was seen on the exploding freighter) and Locke (reclined in a coffin under the purview of FutureJack as the season finale faded to black) each would be back in some capacity, and that "dead is a relative term" on this show. Also, animal lovers may be pleased to know that Vincent is not only alive and well, but will make it to the end of the series!

To wrap things up, a fan came out on stage with a video camera screaming that he had "exclusive video from the Dharma booth." It was shot Blair Witch-style, and was clearly a planned part of the panel, yet the footage still was hilarious. As the tape unspoiled, the scientist from the Dharma orientation films hinted that the island is 30 years behind. (The hatch music from the '70s now makes a bit more sense.) He begged anyone watching to reconstitute the Dharma Initiative, because all of the original doctors are dead. Say what?!

Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse weren't expected to reveal much of anything about the upcoming season at their Comic-Con panel Saturday; production on the drama won't begin for another three weeks in Hawaii and the writers are typically loathe to give spoilers away, anyway. Still, the duo didn't disappoint. They immediately took questions from the audience and gave Lost memorabilia to anyone who made it up to the microphone. Besides handing out nifty prizes like an autographed life jacket and a T-shirt that read, "I asked a question about Richard Alpert and all I got was this lousy T-shirt," the producers did offer up a few tidbits about the coming year. Jin and Locke will appear in one form or another, Rousseau's story will finally be told, and Walt's dog Vincent will stage a comeback (some fan, in fact, actually inquired about the dog's status before asking about any human characters). Oh, and Lindelof insisted that the Island did not move in the finale. Matthew Fox (pictured) showed up, too, mostly to glad-hand a fan and smile pretty for the room.

The panel then took an odd turn when a pudgy, red-faced "recruit" from the Dharma Initiative bounded on stage to report that he just captured secret video from Dharma's Comic-Con booth. It featured Lost character Dr. Marvin Candle admitting to the camera that his real name was Chang, he was a professor from Ann Arbor, Mich., and that he was about to fall victim to a "violent purge" that he's "powerless to escape" (translation: he's dead now, folks). Candle's purpose for the video? He wanted to say his research on the Island was valid so the "Dharma Initiative should be reconstituted."

Interesting Theory

thanks to jason garelick for sending!

Grand Plot after watching the Season 4 Finale:

Okay, now that I've watched the Season 4 finale, I think I can make a pretty good guess at where at least the next season is going, and a good guess on what exactly has happened so far. I'm using bits and pieces of other theories I've found here, so if you see your theory within mine, its an homage to you, not plagarism, haha.

[I'm looking at this from the most scientifically logically point of view, btw. I try not to go too far into the "magic" of this show, although there is undoubtedly a lot of magic.]

The Island was created in the future. Yes, the future. Some kind of civilization in the future decided to make a perfect island that would be able to sustain a a group of people forever. This is perhaps due to some future catastrophe in which the world ends or something like that. So they make this island and send it back in time. (This may also explain the four-toed statue. Possibly the future civilization that created the island.)

So the island has a sentient consciousness and was programmed to make sure that all its original inhabitants were medically sustained in order for them to basically live forever. To prevent overpopulation of the island, it automatically kills pregnant women in order to maintain the population balance. Moreover, the island remains in a timeloop, in order to prevent the island from progressing in time and eventually falling prey to the future worldwide catastrophe it was made to avoid.

The original inhabitants of the island included Christian Shepard and Charles Widmore. Some time in the early to mid 1900's, something happens in which the time loop is temporarily "broken" and outsiders find and come onto the island. This could have been a similar situation as the Lost adventures we are experiencing on the show. The outsiders are led my Magnus Hanso. The outsiders eventually triumph over the inhabitants and establish the Dharma Initiative to understand the island.

Jacob, the island's programmed sentient consciousness, immediately realizes there are too many people on the island. As soon as there is more than the status quo, Jacob sends out the smoke monster to determine who was an original inhabitant and who was not. The Dharma Initiative find a way to control the smoke monster, and for a time, the war between the Dharma Initiative and the Island Inhabitants is halted.

Jacob tells his inhabitants that measures must be taken to assure that the Island population system remains safe. He send Christian Shepard, Charles Widmore, and some of the other Inhabitants into the Real World, in order to assess what time period the Island has placed itself into, and to bring back weapons and such to purge the Dharma Initiative from the Island.

Christian Shephard, Charles Widmore, and at least one other decide to stay in the real world. John Locke's father was one of the Inhabitants who decided to stay in the Real World, as well as Ben's mother. In fact, Ben's mother got pregnant on the Island, and escaped to the Real World to escape from being killed by Jacob. Shephard and Widmore go on to father Jack and Claire, and Penny, respectively.

Ben is the first of the Stray Inhabitants' children to be born. He reaches out to the Real World and lures Ben and his father to the Dharma Initiative. Once on the Island, Jacob tells Ben the whole story. He tells him that his mother escaped from the Island to give birth to him, but still died of the disease that kill pregnant Inhabitants. Jacob offers Ben to replace the "population" spot that is now vacant now that his mother died. Ben offers to help purge the Dharma Initiative.

Once Ben and the Inhabitants purged the Dharma Initiative, balance was once again restored to the Island. Or was it? Christian Shepherd and Charles Widmore were still the Stray Inhabitants in the Real World.
Two vacant spots in the population status quo. Therefore, Jacob allows two people from the Dharma Initiative to stay alive. However, for their punishment, they must build a machine that hides the Island in a new time loop from the Real World. Also as punishment, they must press the button every 108 minutes. This hides the Island in another point in time.

Charles Widmore begins to age in the Real World and seeks to find the Island once more. With his fortune, he works to create a machine that would allow him to cross over into the new time loop. However, it is not tested, and may send him to some unknown point in time. So he tricks his apparent son-in-law Desmond to sail around the world, not knowing that Widmore has placed a device allowing him to cross into the Island time loop while doing so.

The successful cross into the time-loop allows Widmore to make contact with the island. Jacob is angry at Widmore and Shepherd and refuses to let them back on the Island. So Widmore and Shepherd stage a grand plan to re-colonize the Island themselves. They select special people from all over the world. Shepherd decides to go and also bring his two kids Jack and Claire. They also plan to bring Locke onto the Island, as his mom was a Stray Inhabitant as well.

Their plan is to manipulate the passengers onto the same flight from Australia. This requires a lot of planning and conspiracy. Sun's father Mr. Paik is also possibly involved in this plan and sends Sun and Jin on the flight, as Jin is sterile and does not need to worry about Sun becoming pregnant and dying on the Island. (Mr. Paik may possibly be a Stray Inhabitant as well.)

Christian Shepherd decides to go to the Island as a corpse, knowing he will be brought to life by the Island, since he is an Original Inhabitant. He does not want to come alive, as that may automatically make Jacob kill the new intruders. Charles Widmore decides to stay behind for now, to oversee the operation from the Real World. He decides not to send his daughter to the Island either. He is not as trusting of Jacob as Christian is.

They contact and manipulate the Dharma Initiative survivor in the hatch to make Desmond not press the button at a certain time, while Oceanic 815 is in the air. This causes the plane to crash. Christian Shepherd is awoken from his casket by the Island and goes to make peace with Jacob.

Christian begs for the Island to take him back, and also at least his son and daughter Jack and Claire. The Island agrees, but says some of the Others and the rest of the passengers must be sacrificed.
Christian becomes Jacob's new spokesman. Jacob sends the smoke monster out to kill off some passengers to make room for Christian's VIP list.
The Passengers and the Inhabitants (which are now called the Others) begin to fight. Jacob lets this play out and analyzes some of the Passengers. Jacob surmises that some of the passengers may be better candidates as Inhabitants than some Others.

Jacob chooses a select group of Passengers to take in as new Inhabitants. Among these are Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Locke, Hurley, and Walt. The Island is seriously over the maximum for population and is ready for another Purge. Ben, as the leader of the Others, is the instrument of Jacob in selecting those that will survive and those that will not.

This is interrupted when Widmore sends a ship to the Island. Jacob refuses to accept another Stray Inhabitant, so Widmore makes war with the Jacob and Shepherd. Jacob and Shepherd use Ben as their general in battle against Widmore in this war to control the Island. Shepherd makes a deal with Widmore. If Widmore can find find better Replacement Inhabitants than Shepherd has found, then Shepherd will leave and Widmore can take his place. This is the game. They fight to reshape the new population of the Island. Ben, his daughter, Jack and Claire are not allowed to be killed, however. Those are the rules.

Instead of sending a new group of selected Inhabitants, Widmore as sent a death squad to kill everyone. Shepherd and Ben work to protect the Others and the VIP list. The Others are sent to a safe sanctuary on the Island. Jacob says Ben has failed and will instead replace him with Locke as the leader of the Inhabitants. As a punishment, Ben must move the Island and be banished from it forever.

Locke discovers his destiny as one of the only children of the Inhabitants. The other children are Jack, Claire, and Penny. Shepherd is concerned about this whole confusion and takes Claire to safety until it all blows over. Six of the Flight 815 passengers plus Desmond manage to escape from the Island before Ben moves the Island to yet another time loop.

The Island still senses that it has too many people. Jacob tells Locke, the new leader of the Island, that he must exterminate the surplus of people. Locke cannot accept this order. He instead leads a group of the Others in a rebellion against Jacob. This causes the Others to be split into two groups. They war for three years on the Island, suffering many horrible casualties.

Shepherd sides with Locke against Jacob. They propose peace treaties with Jacob and try to establish new populations, but none of them are acceptable to Jacob. Jacob instead demands that the six Passengers who left the Island return, as he was fond of them and wants to include them in his New Population. Until Locke manages to bring them all back, the war will continue.

Locke goes to the Real World to try and get the Oceanic Six to return, but they are dispersed and disoriented after three years. Widmore is still looking for the Island and discovers that Locke has been returning to the Real World. He has Locke killed. Jacob contacts Widmore and Ben. He has a new game proposal. Whoever brings the Oceanic Six back to him gets to come back to the Island. They are not allowed to kill each other, however.

Widmore hires Abbadon to recruit the Oceanic Six, while Ben hires them himself. Ben manages to win over Jack, Sayyid, and Hurley, but Sun and Kate have sided with Widmore. Also, in the process, Ben kills Penny for revenge for his own daughter's death at Widmore's soldiers. This angers Desmond, who reappears.

The Oceanic Six return to the Island, but separately. Desmond and Widmore follow them as well. The Island they return to is much different. Charlotte is the new leader of the Others, who have sided with Jacob. Sawyer and Juliette are leading the Resistance in place of Locke. Sawyer and Juliette are now also a couple. Sun's husband Jin is alive, as his unconscious body floated to the Island after he was presumed dead after a C4 explosion. The time lapse between the freighter and the Island caused him to wash up ashore one day earlier than the Island moved. Miles has joined the Others as Jacob's new right-hand man.

The Oceanic Six, Ben, Widmore, and Desmond go through many conflicts, alliance changes, and discovering answers before they finally seek to challenge Jacob and form some kind of treaty. Jacob is close to establishing a treaty with them, saying he will kill off some of the Others to make room for the Oceanic Six and other VIPs that they request. The Others are angered by this and try to kill off the Resistance and the Oceanic Six before Jacob decides to kill them off.

In this final battle, it is the Christian and Locke's resistance versus Charlotte and Miles Others. In the end, all of the Others are killed and a new population that is equal to the original population of Inhabitants is established. All of the New Inhabitants decide to stay on the Island and move it once again to another time loop. To make up for his crimes, Widmore decides to sacrifice himself and be the one to move the Island. It moves to another time loop, hopefully to never be discovered again.

And that is the story of Lost.

Lost Season Finale!

WOW! this really answered some questions! great episode (and i'm finally back & committed to schlost!)

- Sawyer called Jack "Sundance"- butch cassidy & the sundance kid. butch cassidy & sundance kid were robbers- wanted dead or alive.

- there was enough explosives- 6 months worth to blow up an aircraft carrier. (oceanic 6)

- walt's grandmother looks like rose!

- Locke told Jack he was not supposed to go home. crashing here was our destiny. you know you are here for a reason. Jack said there is no such thing has miracles. it's science vs faith. when Locke tells him he has to lie, he didn't want to. it was only until kate said that aaron surviving was a miracle, Jack decides to follow Locke's instructions. also the science vs faith. Locke was on a commune that had a greenhouse (where Ben takes Locke). The episode was called "Further Instructions".

- the story of the Oceanic 6 - they mention Libby, Boone & Charlie. why not Mr. Ecko, Ana Lucia, Shannon, Paulo, Nikki?

- why did Juliette call Daniel Farraday "Dan"- seems as if she knows him already.

- Ben's eyes were black in station when he was taking Locke down. After he shot Keamy, he had blood on his hands (religious symbol- Locke also had blood on his hands).

- Sayid had a black shadow on his face when visiting Hurley. Why was Hurley seeing Mr. Ecko? Why do many of them including Miles & Jack see dead people? He also moved the chess piece (black & white theme/game). Checkmate-
one player's king is threatened with capture (in check) and there is no way to meet that threat.

- Where was Ben when he was hurt in the chest before - I remember seeing him holding his chest- above his heart in another episode (religious symbol- bleeding heart) And the icy station- there was another station in the cold that was watching over the island

- We don't really know for sure if Claire died or not!

- Charlotte says to Miles she had to find the place of her birth. She must have been raised in Dharma, which I think Miles was as well- which is why he doesn't want to leave. still think he's revenging the death of his father (Dr. Candle/Halliwax) I think that many of them were once on the island when they were young but don't remember because of the time travel scenario. Plus, Charlotte, Miles, Daniel seem to be brought there to kill Ben.

- Desmond escaped death. Michael escaped death many times and tried to kill himself a few times.. which is why he probably sent Jin out and stayed with the boat.

- Jack to Desmond- see you in another life, brotha. Desmond said that to Jack when they met running before the island. Desmond says, I guess you will. expect these two to reunite!

- Jack listening the The Pixies "Gauge Away" which was on Doolittle. The lyrical themes explored on Doolittle range from the surrealism of "Debaser", to the environmental catastrophe of "Monkey Gone to Heaven". The women and whores of "Mr. Grieves," "Tame," and "Hey" share space with the Biblical analogies of "Dead" and "Gouge Away". Francis' fascination with Biblical themes can be traced back to his teenage years; when he was twelve, he and his parents joined an evangelical church linked to the Assemblies of God. This background was to be an influence in Doolittle, where he referred to the Devil being "six" and God being "seven" in "Monkey Gone to Heaven," along with his various takes on Bible stories. Gauge Away has theme of Samson & Delilah- Samson was meant to "Serve God" . As Jack visits Locke he is starting to believe what Locke said to him.

- Ben looked younger when he went to see Locke/Jack at the funeral home.

- Sun blames Jack for Jin's death (she said she blames two men- her father and Jack).

- Locke/Jeremy Bentham. At first I thought it was Benson. Looked it up- M. David Benson was the founder of Apollo Candy (the chocolate that was on the island). is this a play on words- why would Locke use this name? was this the name of his father (we don't know if the con man that claimed to be Locke's father was really his father). maybe it was the candy man. there was a picture of Apollo in Locke's dad's apartment.

- Locke was alone - no one was at his funeral. Live together, Die Alone. Did he really commit suicide or was it a cover up. Seems as if he was trying to recruit the Oceanic 6 to go back to the Island. Jack said things got bad when they left- it's because they took Aaron (Aaron is the Chosen One - there was also a #1 on his blanket when Kate thought she saw Claire and Claire told her not to bring him back there). jacob, then Ben ran the island, then Locke, Aaron was never supposed to leave. This also ties into the theory that people were born on the island & don't remember. Kate knew her way around the island, I think Jack was on the island, did his dad run it too- there was the Jacob connection.

- the coffin always appeared small- did locke lose his legs once he went back?

The commercials!

- one with a Walt Polar Bear http://www.nationalgrid.com/ (went there- i adopted a polar bear, named it, fed it, etc. it's all about saving the environment)

- octagon global recruiting http://www.oisinc.com/

dharma symbol is an octagon octagon has 8 points- dharma no longer in existence- this is the new recruiting for the island which takes place july 24-27 2008 in san diego - who's up for a trip to SD?!?

Season 4, Episode 10- Something Nice Back Home

Sorry this is late again ('m a terrible blogger!). But be prepared, I'm on vacation this Thursday. guess it doesn't really matter. no one reads schlost except for maybe 2 people.

i didn't really notice too much this week- it was more about set up.

- there was a millennium falcon toy in the house. nice star wars shout out again! also, Luke Skywalker was raised by his uncle (as Aaron currently is) and Luke and Leia were brother and sister as are Claire & jack and don't know it.

- Aaron had a space mobile above his crib. in a previous episode it was a plane mobile.

- jack was reading "adventures of Alice in wonderland" to Aaron

- why is sawyer so suddenly protective over Claire?

- ms. berenberg- one of jack's patients. she'll probably make an appearance later on. she looks like a widmore type chick.

- Jack seeing his dad in the hospital- then Claire seeing him on the island- does jack know he's related to Claire when he yells at Kate about Aaron not even being related to him?

- Hurley's comments about heaven and that they are already dead-are the producers trying to deceive us by throwing out the purgatory theory? also Hurley's eyes were black when he said this.

- you're not supposed to raise him (raised by another)

- Bernard says to think of something nice back home and then eventually, jack wants to go back home to the island.

- Aaron had a big whale toy (whales are one of the Dharma animals)

- Aaron in the tree- looks like Jesus again, all wrapped up.

- i think that the favor Sawyer asks Kate to do is to go look up his child. remember, sawyer got some chick pregnant before he went to the island!

- also who buried Karl and Danielle Rousseau?

Season 4, Episode 9- The Shape of Things To Come

Hi- sorry I am just getting to this now. Was at Portishead on Thursday and then at Coachella so this is the first chance I've FINALLY been able to watch Lost!

Here goes:

- colors- the team with ben had on green/those on the island were wearing blue

- stomach bug/my gut tells me elsewhere- foreshadowing of jack's addiction and his longing to be somewhere else. also- so is "what happened to the doctor"

- there are a lot of first names going around - Hugo, James, Benjamin- more so than usual but Claire is not referenced by her name so much.

- Game of Risk- Australia is the key to this whole game. sawyer roles a 15. hurley says we're all gonna die. sawyer calls him chicken little.

- Ben playing Prelude in C Sharp Minor. Ben is playing this piece from Sergei Rachmaninoff on the piano, right before the phone call. Some British publications include the title The Burning of Moscow or The Day of Judgemen

- Fence Code- 1623 - both numbers

- there are many references to 5 in this episode- alex captured by 5 mercenaries, number of shots sayid fired, code 14J (1+4), it took them 5 minutes to debate telling ben about the phone, phone ran 5 times, book on the shelf that fell over was called "Fifties", Nadia was killed 5 days ago, 3.2MM dollars, sayid killed the guy with 5 bullets

- Tozeur, Tansinia- famous Tansian poem wrote:

To the lovers of the darkness
To the enemies of life...
You ridiculed the pain of the frail people
Your hands covered in their blood
You deformed the charm of existence
And you've grown but seeds of sadness in their land

Wait, don't let the spring, the clearness of the sky and
the shine of the morning light fool you
Because the darkness, the thunder rumble and the blowing of the wind are coming toward you from the horizon
Beware because there is a fire underneath the ash
Who grows thorns will reap wounds
You've taken off heads of people and the flowers of hope; and watered the sand with blood until it's drunk
The blood's river will take you away and you will be burned by the fiery storm.

- name on Ben's jacket is Halliwax:

- 10/24/05- check out some interesting history for October 24
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_24

- Shock & Awe- war term

- People are murdered to make sawyer angry

- Dean Moriarty is the name of the "hero" of Jack Kerouac's novel On The Road, which was written in the 50s. Moriarty is also the surname of Professor James Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes' best known antagonist and mathematical genius. In the story "The Final Problem", Moriarty pays a surprise visit to Holmes to confront him and both issue ultimatums to the other regarding their continued pursuit of each other in much the same way Ben visits Widmore and they issue threats about their respective searches

- Your Friend Desmond's boat (Elizabeth- libby's boat)

- La Brea & Santa Monica- 3 blocks from where Nadia was killed (3)- close to the tar pits.

- Martin Keaney- served 1996-2001 (5 yrs)- mercenary in Uganda- In Mayan Astrology, the sign CIMI, pronounced the same way as Martin's last name, means DEATH.

- pawn (game playing reference)

- 8 years searching for Nadia

- Ben smiles as he tells Sayid he'll be in touch- now we know how Sayid started working for Ben

- Eyes - locke had white dots in his while talking to Sawyer about who was staying/going. Ben's eyes were black when he went to visit widmore, widmore says to ben he has horrible eyes,

- License Plate numbers- car behind Ben's- 4L04BAV, Ben's car- R838VLW - 4 and 8 numbers

- Kendrick- 4E (#)

- scotch by the bed- reference

- shadows by Ben & Widmore's faces- they used the same shadow techniques as in Star Wars when Luke confronts The Emperor in Return of the Jedi

- and last but certainly not least- a very special appearance by the smoke monster!! so what is the smoke monster?

The Lost producers posted a question to Yahoo! Answers asking people what their theories were of what the Monster was. The winning answer suggested that the Monster was a security system designed to separate the participants in DHARMA Initiative experiments, although the producers stated that "The answer we selected might be somewhat right, totally right -- or completely off-base". here is the winning answer:

I think the monster was originally a highly advanced security system designed to separate participants in the experimental Dharma hatches. I think it was an effect that was designed to frighten people (smoke, noise) if they strayed too far from their experiment location. (A bit Wizard of Oz like) However, the electromagnetic force has mutated it - in the same sense as Desmond experienced time travel and can now see the future after exposure - and made it malevolent and able to physically grab things in its force (Eko, the Pilot, Locke). So in theory it may be able to be deactivated, if they can find the control room for it (which would be another hatch somewhere yet undetected)

til thursday!!

LOST MARATHON

hey everyone- i know it's been a while since the last update because LOST isn't on but i want you to know that i've been doing a marathon of seasons 1-3. I'm almost done with season 1 and will have recaps soon.

just wanted to point out that colors are playing an interesting roll. in fact, charlie's band driveshaft who sang the song "you all everybody" sounds a lot like "peanut butter" which was on Barney (who is a purple dinosaur). you can listen to both here:
http://www.amazon.ca/V1-Favorites-Barney/dp/B000002TMH
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uJ-4y6rbxY

and remember the claire/charlie peanut butter reference.

"you all everybody" was also featured in a 2005 episode of alias!

Check out this AMAZING theory (sent by dan k & berman). i think it explains it all. http://timelooptheory.com.nyud.net//the_timeline.htm

Season 4, Episode 8- Meet Kevin Johnson

sorry this blog is late- went out last night, came home, watched it pretty late and am only getting to the update now. here goes (and argh- no new episodes til 4/24!)

Locke says it has taken a few days to figure out our next move (referring to the game of life/chess).

3 of his people - referring to the holy trinity.

Beeping noise on the boat was the same as in the hatch.

3 million bucks your buddy asked for.

Miles offered loyalty in exchange for the money. what kind of loyalty can he give if he is there to kill ben and ben knows this.

Linus will find a way to get it. He wants to survive. a week ago you had a gun to his head and tonight he's eating pound cake, he gets what he wants. "let them eat cake" Marie Antoinette is known for saying this in regards to the poor- the poor were suffering. However, the quote actually comes from the philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who commented that a "certain princess" said it, the supposed princess being Louis XIV's queen, Maria Teresa of Spain.

Is Alex is pregnant? she was holding her stomach.

Temple on the map was a dharma symbol.. it's a sanctuary. is it a sanctuary from a nuclear blast? The rest of our people are there. the temple is for us. is the temple by the big foot?

The song playing in the car when Michael tries to kill himself is "It's Getting Better" by Cass Elliot, who also recorded Make Your own Kind of Music which was playing when they first discovered the hatch and saw Desmond.

There is an older man lying in the hospital bed next to Michael- it looks like Locke's father. http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Older_man

Libby is carrying blankets as she did when Michael shot her.

Almost every person in this episode had the black eyes- no pupils but a white speck.

Michael had Jin’s watch which was given to him by Sun's father. He's now trading it for a gun with bullets, and Jin let him have it to protect himself.

Tom, the other says- We let you leave one island and you just go to another. it's not your time to go- you have work to do (common phrase on lost).

We are the ones who sent you home. We gave him back to you. You are the one who lost him.

Shared the guilt with a 10 yr old kid. He knows you are a murderer. You cannot kill yourself -the island won’t let you. Michael tried to kill himself 5 times in this episode. once in a car accident, once in the alley with a gun, twice in his apartment with the gun, and once again on the freighter.
Jack, Desmond, (and maybe Hurley and Charlie) also tried to kill themselves.
Most religions feel that suicide is a sin (and is stated by he writings of St. Thomas Aquinas- TOM THE OTHER!) and you will not be allowed into the gates of heaven. in christianity if you commit any moral sins, you are stuck in purgatory until you have rectified your sins. Purgatory is living amongst the living until you have rectified those duties.

Hotel Earle is a fictional hotel which is a metaphysical manifestation of hell itself for an awkward, isolated New York City writer in the 1994 Coen Brothers film Barton Fink.

Kurt Vonnegut author of Slaughterhouse Five, is mentioned as an answer on the game show Michael is watching.

Tom says- Some of us can come and go. We know Ben can.

The bodies to cover up 815 were dug up from a cemetery in Thailand. what is the Thai connection?

Shell company vessel number 2950-D? (2+9+5=16, 16 is a number) client number 209

Joining the crew as a deckhand if Widmore finds the island he will kill them all without thinking twice.

How did Michael know Naomi was from Manchester? was it from knowing Charlie's accent?

I’ll be seeing you - the eyes.

Port of Suva - Suva is home to The TRAFFIC Oceania South Pacific Programme - funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, is located in Suva, in the offices of the WWF South Pacific Programme. The programme assists in the implementation of CITES, but also strengthens collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature.

80% of the people are lying about something (8 is a number)

Why did Tom mention Sun, Sawyer, Jack, Claire and her baby specifically as the ones whose lives to save?

It's game time- are you in or out? - game.

Comparison between landing on the moon as a fake with Oceanic 815. Can you imagine what would happen if we found some of those people alive? (the media blitz that does ensue as well as the trauma they go through post-island)

71776 was the code Michael punched in.

Choices. You can or can’t die. life vs death is a constant theme of the show. it isn't michael's time to die because he has work to do- to make up for killing libby and ana lucia. but no one asked him to kill them.

What a man would do for his son- constant father/son themes.

Jack Nicholson in the shining.next thing you know you will go after your wife with an axe.

There was a statue of a Buddha when Ben was talking to Michael.

Ben says-People on the boat innocent. they don't know the man who they work for is a killer without conscience. When I am at war I will do what I have to do but I will not kill people. Ben reminding us he's a good one and tells Michael to consider himself one of the good guys. Ben killed his father.

Michael Dawson is a traitor . Is he Judas- redeeming his sins? Sayid winds up working for ben as well.

Is your dad playing us- game reference again.

Danielle protecting her child. Why did Ben send them to the Temple- was it to have Karl and Danielle killed? but he doesn't kill. is Danielle really dead?

In the upcoming episode when they says the oceanic 6 are revealed, they show Kate, Jack, Sun, Hurley, Aaron & Sayid. i still don't count Aaron but oh well- guess he is one? or maybe not.

RIP?

Season 4, Episode 7- Ji Yeon

SXSW kicked my ass but now i'm back on track and finally got to watch LOST! here goes

Regina (played by Zoe Bell from Grindhouse!) reading "The Survivors Of Chancellor' - Classic adventure novel about a shipwreck. "Jules Gabriel Verne (February 8, 1828â€"March 24, 1905) was a French author who pioneered the science-fiction genre. He is best known for novels such as Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea (1870), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873). Verne wrote about space, air, and underwater travel before air travel and practical submarines were invented, and before practical means of space travel had been devised. Some of his books have been made into films. Verne, along with H. G. Wells, is often popularly referred to as the "Father of Science Fiction"

Cans of Lima Beans- come in pea pods (fertility).

When Sun turned off the TV the program was a man with a ponytail with a suitcase open of cash and a blond woman. Sort of looked like Penny Widmore.

Panda- while the dragon usually serves as China's emblem, the panda has taken over. In the past, pandas have thought to have been regal. The first westerner known to have seen a living giant panda is the German zoologist Hugo Weigold (german/hurely reference). Pandas also have a baby-like cuteness.

Sun doesn't want them to take off her ring. she lost her ring while she was fertilizing the soil to grow food.

Dr. Bae replacing Dr. Park at a conference. what conference was he at? anything to do with widmore/dharma? was he purposely not there. am i looking into this too much? moving on!

The Year of The Dragon- was NOT in 2004- it was the year of the monkey.
The Year of the Monkey- people born in this year have an awareness of what's going on around them. Although these people are trustworthy and unlikely to hurt someone out of spite, they would never let people escape if they have behaved badly or damaged a monkey's reputation. Their stamina and determination to achieve their main goals can make these people appear vain or manipulative. People born under this sign should be careful so they do not damage their friendships. It is important to remember for these persons that it would be wiser sometimes not to pursue their goals and simply let things pass. they are there to clean up the disorder.
The Year of the Dragon- the dragon is a symbol of power and wealth. They are egotistical self-grandising and ambitious, almost to the point of megalomania. They will stop at nothing to get what they want. A person born in this year wears the crown of destiny, and is capable of great achievements if he or she knows how to harness his or her tremendous energy, intelligence and talent.

3 comes up a lot in this episode. Ji Yeon is mentioned three times, 3 days ago ben had a spy on the boat, it's been 3 days since they heard from desmond and sayid, in 3 weeks, sun will have to get off the island, most women don't make it past the third trimester. Sun says Jin's name 3 times.

2 married guys/decisions between spouses take twice as long- 2 is a number.

They had to stay with Jack because it was the right thing to do. and Bernard says Locke is a murderer! and he says, we must be the good guys- good vs evil.

All about karma- bad choices, bad things happen. if you make good choices.. then they were interrupted by catching a fish (fish symbolizes religion- apostles fished).

Kahana - name of freighter- Kahana," according to a Hawaiian Dictionary, means "n. Cutting, drawing of a line; turning point. There are many places in the Hawaiian islands called "Kahana," and "Kahana" is also a proper name for men or women. In addition, if spelled "ka hana", this could mean "the work" in the context of a larger sentence.
Additionally, "Kahana" is the aramaic form of the word Cohen in Hebrew, which means Priest but also Leader. All Jewish priests came from the family of Levi, who was the son of Jacob.

What errand is Lapidus running?

Captain Gault- is a fictional sea captain created by English writer William Hope Hodgson. A captain for hire, Gault is a morally ambiguous and mysterious character.

The Black Box- Widmore got the resources to find the black box from the bottom of the ocean. Ben is covering up the 324 dead passengers.

Paik Automotive- Mr. Paik is Sun's father. Paik Industries have dealings with the Widmore Corporation & Hanso Foundation. Paik Automotive was mentioned in the book "Bad Twin". The panda is a gift from Mr. Paik's eagerness to the great business of China

Also- Sun wanted the baby raised in Korea, Jin in the US.

It's interesting that Hurley comes to visit in a suit and is happy that the other Oceanic 6 aren't coming- and Sun says she trusts him.

When we see Jin buying a panda- it's a flashback (because of the year of the dragon reference). He was buying the panda on behalf of Paik Industries and doing business with the Chinese ambassador (who became a grandfather). and that is why he's so aggressive when he threatened to kill, hunt down and rip of the head of the guy who stole his cab. it was before he changed from being on the island- when he & Sun were just married and he just started working for her father.

The tombstone says Jin was born November 27th 1974, and Sun was born March 20th 1980. This difference of 6 years is considered the least compatible according to the Zodiac. 9/22/04 was the date the plane crashed so there is coverup of Jin's death.

5 of the Oceanic 6 revealed! (hurley, sayid, jack, sun, kate)- i do not count aaron - he was born on the island but discuss amongst yourselves. my bet for #6 is KEVIN JOHNSON.

WHO DIES NEXT WEEK!! probably bernard. : /

Season 4, Episode 6

Please note next week this blog will be updating late. I'll be at SXSW and have a show right in the middle of Lost (can you believe it!!?!?)- and I was going to have a big Lost party in my hotel room!!

alas.. trying to get Sayid Is My Boyfriend to update for me. oh and thanks to Yoda for looking up some stuff after my DVR didn't tape lost (gasp!)

ok- here goes!

Harper Stanhope- the name means minstrel a minstrel is a person who performed songs whose lyrics told stories about distant places or about (real or imaginary) historical events. Though minstrels created their own tales, often they would memorize and embellish the works of others. Also- the name Stanhope was used in something- any ideas- was a name on a site but I cannot remember!

all eyes on you. i'm convinced that this has something to do with the eyes changing color and shapes. seems as if the darker they go.. the more mind control or in charge the character is. ben had a weird shaped pupil. also check this out: http://lostisagame.com/eyes.htm

in therapy ben said- "crying about daddy"- father issues/family issues always come up. (penny widmore and her dad, etc)

2 beds 2 baths - 2 is a number as is 4 and will this allude to ben wanting to procreate with juliette?

whispers- did anyone make them out?

henrietta was the name of the woman who died while pregnant. ben used a fake name- henry at one point when he first met the losties. also, when goodwin orginally comforts juliette, the name is sabine, not henrietta. both henrietta and sabine are of German descent and henrietta means "ruler of the house".

Goodwin. he was a good one. killed on purpose by Ben because Juliette is HIS!

Egg salad on rye- eggs! fertility! and they are running out of chickens- chickens produce eggs.

Locke- very aggressive killing of that rabbit with the knife. notice how Ben asked if it had a number on it? and he wouldn't eat it either! was he was he also eating edamame? (mommy!) remember the Orchid orientation video! http://youtube.com/watch?v=bSZVkch09Qg

Ben asks- has the revolution begun yet? the famous saying "the revolution will not be televised". The poem by Gil Scott-Heron is notable for its extensive political and cultural references, many of which may be unknown today.

3.2 million dollars the 3 is coming up a lot!

Kill every man woman and child on this island if i flip the wrong switch.

Lists in 3 days- references to the lists- the list sayid given to by ben, the original losties/tallies list.

36 15 28- the combo on the safe. 15 is a number According to Matthew Chapter 15- verse 28- Then Jesus said to her in reply, "O woman, great is your faith! 12 Let it be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed from that hour and verse 36- Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, gave thanks, 14 broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds. Matthew is a tax collector- the economist. all goes back to Charles Widmore who is trying to capitalize on the island.

Anyone have any ideas where the Widmore video was taped?

Red Sox- another reference to the Red Sox- from the producers on the EW article:
LINDELOF: We wrote the Sayid episode before the Boston Red Sox won the World Series a second time. So when Jack said to Frank Lapidus, ''Did the Red Sox really win the World Series?'' and Lapidus says, ''Please don't remind me,'' certain subsets of the Lost audience began asking, ''Is it possible Lapidus is actually from 2008?!'' But you have to understand: we are not writing the show for now. We are writing the show so that when you put it in your DVD player 20 years from now, you don't have to understand the nuances of the Red Sox winning the World Series, only they hadn't won it in a long time.
CUSE: But you won't have a DVD player, Damon.
LINDELOF: It'll just be downloaded into your brain.

3 months ago (3 again). in gainseville florida, the virgin mary was spotted on moss and 5000 people showed up for it. Gainesville- gaining income off of land. Also, after doing some research- Clearwater is the place where the Virgin Mary appeared, not Gainesville. Juliette and the Omar and Keamy are all from florida. Also, there were the Gainesville Murders where a man raped and murdered 5 college students.

So Ben has a crush on Juliette, who resembles Jack's ex-wife. And when Juliette makes note that Jack is a surgeon he makes light of it. Jack is there for a reason- and Juliette is being used as a pawn to Jack. When Jack saved his ex wife she said you don't want to get involved with this, and he said he knows what he's doing, similar to what he just said to Juliette.

Ben is a puppet master- Juliette says he knows what he's doing- Ana Lucia was used to kill Goodwin. it's all back to the eyes.

Also- when Claire talks to Locke about trying to talk to Miles, i think it's foreshadowing that she will be killed or will die. And because Locke will try to gain custody of Aaron but is becoming slightly irratic in behavior, this is why Kate takes Aaron as her own.

Zack and Emma referenced- the kids who lost their mom that Ana Lucia took care of. We think these are Juliette's sisters kids and she doesn't know it yet.

The Gas Explosion- clearly we know that Ben wiped out the Dharma Initiative. This was the pit that Locke woke up in and when Danielle said they all got sick.

did kate fool jack into thinking the reason why she went back with locke was because she doesn't care if the freighters know if she's a criminal but to test sawyer to see if he did indeed want to become a dad??

and WHO will be back next week- is it MYYY BOYYYYYYY???

Season 4, Episode 5

First & foremost- thanks again Midlake for the promotion! And welcome Midlake fans!

here we go...

40 miles - reference to 4o acres and a mule- had to do with slavery/land owners?

305- off track. 305 is an area code in miami where juliette is from. also, It is a triangular number and the sum of a pair of twin primes (149 + 151), twins- the bad twin the book, the 2 eggs, triangle- holy trinity (jacob locke ben & bermuda triangle reference, it's also been 3 years that penny has been looking for desmond)

also- USS Skate (SS-305) was a United States Navy Balao-class submarine named for the skate, a type of ray. Ray was the name of the doctor. I also think he was in a past episode or two. all the seasons under 'the doctor" were crossed out.

dude with the tattoos was the same dude in the barracks with desmond questioning why should he call penny. was that a bat tattoo? it was a circle with something in it.

Keamy- the actor who played him had a few interesting roles - Mystery Alaska, Without A Trace, The Dead Zone & The Butterfly Effect. (oh and big momma's house 2). also if you google keamy- keamy engineering in australia comes up and keamy eye & laser center!

Omar was Sayid's superior in the Republican Guard, some time after Desert Storm. He was the one who informed Sayid of his promotion in rank from a Communications Officer to an Intelligence Officer. He also forced Sayid to interrogate his love, Nadia, whom he ordered to be tortured. Sayid shot and killed him when he witnessed Sayid trying to help Nadia escape from being held prisoner by the Republican Guard.

Sayid does not recognize Omar at all. Is he experiencing the same issues as desmond with memory loss/time space continuum (see more info below) coming to and from the island. daniel said that going too and from the island, people get confused, but not amnesia.

PS- they are both from florida! 305 area code.

Who else said i'm not supposed to be here- hurley? locke? we think it's more than one.

Why did jack put sayid on speaker phone? i just thought that was weird.

Notice the use of side effects often. seems to be a recurring theme (pregnancy on the island..)

Ferris wheel mention- the ferris wheel in london is called the london eye, folks!

All Ray wanted to do was look in Desmond's eye. an eye is the window to the soul. remember the flashbacks with the eye opening sequences. I thought there might be a theory with who gets off the island had the eye flashbacks (those that had them are the oceanic 6 but i'm not sure i can prove it).

Desmond thinks it's 1996 (8 years ago from 2004- 8 is a number)

2.342 (23 and 42 are numbers) check this out:
http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/cfr/part002/part002-0342.html

11 hertz Probe Set HZ-11 for E and H nearfield measurements is a diagnostic tool for detecting trouble spots both in the fields of EMI and EMS. Its main application is in the diagnosis of radiated emissions from printed circuit boards, ICs, cables, leakage spots in shielded enclosures, and similar sources of lectromagnetic interference. The detected emissions can be displayed on test receivers, spectrum analyzers or oscilloscopes. Since the probes are passive when operated without a preamplifier, they can also be used to find EMI-sensitive components.

"If the numbers don't convince me tell me about eloise." Eloise was a psychiatric hospital located in Michigan. the DeGroots are from Michigan. Also, Libby & Hurley were in the Santa Rosa psych ward- the location has not been determined. The Eloise hospital sold it's land to the Ford Motor Company (Sawyer's last name is Ford- am i reaching?!?!?)

George Minkowski- Minkowski possibly refers to Hermann Minkowski, the early twentieth century German mathematician-physicist who described time as a fourth dimension.
Minkowski Spacetime is the most common frame of reference for spacetime, with three physical dimensions and a single time dimension, and it is used in general relativity. Closed timelike curves (CTCs) existing in Minkowski space explain many of the mysterious features of the island (why it can't be found/seen, etc.). CTCs were linked to the Lost universe through clues from the ARG Find 815.
This connection is posited as evidence by the proponent of the HEMA theory.
With the appearance of the character of Daniel Faraday, and The Maxwell Group all named after famous scientists, this could hint that the mysterious faction to which Minkowski belongs are more like scientists than the philosophers who currently inhabit the island.
Another possibility is the phenomenological philosopher and psychiatrist Eugène Minkowski, who studied the "subjectiveness of the lived Time", and was described as having made "the first serious attempt in psychiatry to reconstruct the other person's lived experience."

Daniel tells Desmond to be careful crossing the street. He almost got hit and Charlie saved him in a flashback.

Black Rock painting at the auction is the Black Rock ship on the island, which they said was lost at sea. bidding started at 150,000 pounds and ended at 385, 000 pounds by bidder 755. any reference here?

423 cheyne walk - penny's address ( 4 and 23 are numbers)
Cheyne-Stokes respiration (also known as periodic breathing) is an abnormal pattern of breathing characterized by oscillation of ventilation between apnea and hyperpnea, to compensate for changing serum partial pressures of oxygen and carbon dioxide.
The condition was named after John Cheyne and William Stokes, the physicians who described it.
This abnormal pattern of breathing can be seen in patients with strokes, traumatic brain injuries, brain tumors, and congestive heart failure. In some instances, it can occur in otherwise normal people during sleep at high altitudes. It can occur in all forms of toxic metabolic encephalopathy.[1] It is a symptom of carbon monoxide poisoning, along with syncope or coma. This type of respiration is also often seen after morphine administration. Also, there are headaches from the time travel. And Daniel said there is prolonged exposure to radiation but "nothing to the head'

Could this also be the cause of bleeding from the nose? Didn't the marshall bleed from the nose?

79460893- there has to be some meaning to these numbers.

"if anything goes wrong desmond hume will be my constant". they will both remember each other when things go awry. also a Constants are real numbers or numerical values which are significantly interesting in some way. The term "constant" is used both for mathematical constants and for physical constants, but with quite different meanings.

Time Paradox- the creators of lost are all for this- see the EW article in one of the comments & wiki it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time-space_continuum

Also- here's another random theory- is kate's mom karen degroot? (karen degroot was the founder of the dharma initiative) all members of lost have trouble relationships- could it be they were once on the island but don't remember?

Season 4, Episode 4

Ok- sorry this is late but i went to the bravery last nite and got home too late to post. welcome new members! enjoy reading.

I'd also like to point out that "sayid is my boyfriend'" aka my sister karen made numerous fantastic comments that everyone should read under my vincent -top 8 post. check them out.

- The Invention of Morel by Adolfo Bioy Casares is the book Sawyer is reading. The story is about a fugitive who hides on a deserted island somewhere in the South Pacific.

- the book locke gave Ben - VALIS by Philip K. Dick. Known as science fiction only for lack of a better category, "Valis" takes place in our world and may even be semi-autobiographical. It is a fool's search for God, who turns out to be a virus, a joke, and a mental hologram transmitted from an orbiting satellite. The proponent of the novel, Horselover Fat, is thrust into a theological quest when he receives communion in a burst of pink laser light. From the cancer ward of a bay area hospital to the ranch of a fraudulent charismatic religious figure who turns out to have a direct com link with God, Dick leads us down the twisted paths of Gnostic belief, mixed with his own bizarre and compelling philosophy. Truly an eye opening look at the nature of consciousness and divinity.

- locke mentions the last two eggs- perhaps someone will have twins? the manuscript found on the plane was "the bad twin".

- kate said this isn't a democracy and locke said if i was a dictator, i would just shoot you and go about my day. seems like locke is turning into evil! he also later tells Miles he's responsible for the well being of these people on the island. dicatator!

- Locke had blood on the hands from killing a chicken- eggs come from chickens. eggs/fertility. also could be a sign of the devil at work- to be responsible for someone's death.

-Hurley said "you Scooby Doo’d me ". At the beginning of every Scooby Doo episode, the Mystery, Inc. gang bump into some type of evil ghost or monster or supernatural force, which they learn has been terrorizing the local populace and they work together to solve the mystery. Also, a dog plays a major role - Vincent!!!

- Who would Kate want to see on the island?

- she would get 15 years or 7 years. 15 is the number on the rabbit in one of the Dharma videos.

- When Jack is on the stand he says only 8 survived, but it's the oceanic 6. who are the two that die? he is protecting the others, as a Shephard (his last name) protects its flock. And when he flips out later on, he tells Kate they have to go back for the others. Also Sawyer later says baaaahhh.

- Xanadu- song playing by Hurley.
In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
So twice five miles of fertile ground
With walls and towers were girdled round:
And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills,
Where blossomed many an incense-bearing tree;
And here were forests ancient as the hills,
Enfolding sunny spots of greenery.

Also the movie plost for Xanadu- Sonny Malone (Michael Beck) is a talented artist who dreams of fame beyond his job, which is painting larger versions of album covers for record-store window advertisements. As the film opens, Sonny is broke and on the verge of giving up his dream. Having quit his day job to try to make a living as a freelance artist, but having failed to make any money at it, Sonny returns to his old job at AirFlo Records. After some humorous run-ins with his imperious boss and nemesis Simpson, he resumes painting record covers. Hurley was drawing in the mental ward and he's always playing music.

- The Dharma Red Wine box had the numbers 731. 7 + 3= 10 + 1 = 11 1+1= 2. 2 eggs.

- Backgammon. Locke taught Walt how to play. Locke is now the black piece and we think he used to be white when he played against Walt. Good vs Evil. Locke explained the rules of Backgammon to Walt, mentioning that "There are two players. One side is light, and one side is dark."

- Sawyer says "Bruce Lee" from the Freighter, referring to Miles. Miles is DEFINITELY the son of Dr. Marvin Candle, which is why he is back on the island for revenge. Ben off'd all the Dharma people and Dr. Candle worked for Dharma. Revenge for the Father.

- The chair Miles escaped from looked like an execution chair.

- 3.2 Million dollars. Jesus died at the age of 32. Also, The Oceanic Manifesto 815. 8 + 1 + 5 = 14 1+ 4= 5 5 = 3 & 2
Ben was born 32 miles from Portland.
- Queen of Diamonds card. In doing research I came across a lot of Chinese references- Bruce Lee. Xanadu was an ancient Chinese city. Also, in the Paris court card traditional names, it stands for Rachel- the second wife of Jacob. There are many Rachel's on the show- Juliette's sister, Kate's ex boyfriend's Tom's wife, Claire's friend that takes her to the psychic & Rachel Blake the blogger.

- 3- referred to frequently. The Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

- Hurley- Sawyer called him Montezuma. The portrayal of Moctezuma in history has mostly been colored by his role as ruler of a defeated nation, and many sources describe him as weak-willed and indecisive.

- as a side note- how AWFUL was the editing while sawyer was in bed with kate. his hair kept changing!
- one deal made for kate was 4 years. 4 is a number.
- Clouds in Aaron's room.
- the episode where Claire has the nightmares during her pregnancy is called "raised by another'. we now know it's not the adopotive family in california - but kate!
- Aaron-Kate is ok with not leaving California. Later on she clearly doesn't want to go back. Is it because Claire is still alive and she's taken Aaron as her own and doesn't want Claire to have him? Also she doesn't want her own mother to see him. And why is it hard for Jack to see his own nephew (which he may not know is his nephew yet) - is it because he knows that that's not really Kate's son but Claire's and she is still alive but not raising him and he has a problem with that truth. Also- is Aaron techincally one of the Oceanic 6? also, the credits have him as a two year old boy.

Season 4, Episode 3

happy valentine's day!

ahhh.. a sayid episode- shout out to my two ladies on the lost blog that love sayid as much as i do!

karen said there was last week's episode before with the captions and towards the end they held up ben linus' picture and it said proof that ben lied about geting off the island. this proves to be true because we see the passports & foreign currency. he went to the island as a young boy but obviously manages to get off. also- he did tell juliette she could leave. there was a submarine that he told jack they could leave on but locke blew it up.

five iron golf club- is also known as a mashie, which is an egg shaped golf club - eggs/fertility (spoiler alert! next week's episode is named eggtown and revolves around kate!) also the losties have known to partake in golfing for fun on the island!

the golfing man's name- mr. avellino. he turns out to be elsa's boss. In 1943 the city was bombed by Allied planes in an attempt to cut off the retreat of German panzer units over the important Bridge of Ferriera. they are in Berlin.

sayid says he's a head hunter- interesting choice!

the tailies keep getting mentioned- what is the meaning?

RC on Naomi's bracelet. three theories on RC:

- Desmond's ex-fiance is named Ruth Campbell. Ruth's name means "friend/companion". In the Bible, Ruth was the young Moabite widow who said to her Hebrew mother-in-law Naomi, "Where you go, there I shall go also; your people will be my people, your God, my God".

- Rita. no last name but she is the person on the boat that Dan is trying to make contact with.

- Rachel Carson. Juliette's sister who couldn't get pregnant because of the Cancer but then got pregnant. In the Old Testament, Rachel was the wife and true love of Jacob. Rachel was barren for a long period of time, until finally she gave birth to both Joseph and Benjamin.

Did Sayid know Naomi from the past? He closed Elsa's eyes the same way he did with Naomi. "Naomi" was the name of the personal helicopter pilot/assistant to "Karl Stromberg" in the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me

Elsa- name is a variant of Elizabeth. Desmond's boat is name Elizabeth and it's also Libby's name. The Biblical name Elizabeth refers to Mary's cousin who became pregnant at a very old age with her first child by a miracle. That child was John the Baptist. (John Locke).

haha- random trivia- The name of the actor who played the Sleestak leader in Season Three of the 1970s TV show Land of the Lost was Jon Locke.

Sayid said maybe Desmond can shed some light

Sawyer called Locke gizmo. a gizmo is obviously a tech term. Sayid calls out Elsa's beeper saying "your boss doesn't believe in any other more modern forms of technology?"' Also- Gizmo was the pet in Gremlins. In Gremlins the main character's girlfriend's name is Kate.

Sawyer was going to threaten Ben by blowing off toes one by one- the piggy first-then the roast beef- reference to the foot statue.

When Sayid says everyone has a boss.. it was foreshadowing of who is boss is!

Numbers that dan was using that didn't match up. what was he doing?

The Economist- David Hume is a famous economist. Hume is Desmond's last name. the name Hume can refer to many people:

Australian superintendent of convicts and farmer
Scottish Statesmen
British political reformer during the Age of Enlightenment
also means philosophers, explorers, politicians, historians,

Also- check out New World Order.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_world_order

Desmond and Sayid are Economists, along with Naomi. They get on the plane.

The List- when Ben first called for the losties to come he made a list. Sayid also referenced names on a list during this episode.

Follow same bearing we came in on- someone is messing with the electrocurrents!

Dogs- when Sayid walked in to get his arm fixed there were a lot of dogs. Is Ben cloning dogs? there was a weird poster too i couldn't make out.
Also- i thought the dogs looked like Vincent but they were different. I looked up Labs- Common working roles for Labradors include: hunting, tracking and detection, disabled-assistance, carting, and therapy work. Also, labradors are skilled at carrying delicate objects in their mouths, such as eggs.

Theories:
michael's ex wife susan moved to italy -elsa's boss was italian- and michael's ex wife looked like naomi. susan's husband, her old boss, arranged for michael and walt to be on the flight. susan/naomi are working for hanso or dharma. there is some connection with sayid and susan to naomi.

whew! at first i thought i had nothing here- but a LOT happened.

also- thanks to dan kruchkow for sending this link:

Season 4, Episode 2

hi everyone. i started a blog. yey! sorry this took a lot of looking stuff up.

Welcome new members Julie, Yamil, Doug's Cousin & Pete Galli!

- the opening video is same from oceanic commerical from last week

- don't hold your breath- reference to charlie?

- keep dreaming

- there was a wallet in the bottom of the ocean with an identification- what was it?
- an electrical storm brought them down- that always happens - things go down (the song charlie keyed in was good vibrations)

- sawyer calls lock colonel kurtz
Kurtz belongs to a series of Romantic heroes whose suppressed or sublimated desires lead them to a fractured psyche. Victor Frankenstein in Frankenstein, and Prometheus in Prometheus Unbound, as well as the central figure of Edgar Allan Poe's "William Wilson," all ended up displacing their evil into other creatures. Besides these, the character of Kurtz does not resist a Nietzschean interpretation, being a sort of "Overman" whose fractured persona resembles a kind of Dionysian genius, fully aware of his desire for power and utter solitude.

Francis Ford Coppola's 1979 film Apocalypse Now features a character named "Kurtz", who was based on Conrad's character. The cast of Apocalypse Now was instructed by Coppola to read Heart of Darkness.

Timothy Findley's 1993 novel Headhunter features Kurtz's escape from Heart of Darkness and subsequent reign of terror over the city of Toronto as the psychiatrist-in-chief at the Parkin Institute.

- is miles featured in a past episode as someone's friend? hurley's? cop? he kinda looks like dr. marvin candle! (fyi the name miles means soldier/pilgrim leader)

- sawyer called ben yoda- he is the WISE ONE! there are always star wars references. in a galaxy far far away. we keep hearing he's the good one.

- tunisia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunisia

- polar bear in the desert, goes back to polar bar/walt saw the polar bear. last week hurley was drawing an igloo.

- scorpio in dharma logo. a scorpio has 6 legs, 6 is a number.

- 888-548-0034- i called it. it's basically a hotline for families. it said it din't have any updated info, gave their apologies to family members who lost someone in the flight and they have daily briefings and investigations regarding the flight. they also said to check back formore info.

- seth norris, the pilotIn a deleted flashback scene (depicted in extras on Disc 7 of Season 1 DVD collection), Seth had a conversation with Claire at the airport restaurant before the flight. He promised her a "smooth ride". During the same extra, he stated that his mother's boyfriend was named Bernard. This being a deleted scene, it may not necessarily be canon.
In the making of the pilot episode, it is revealed that the pilot was added in later into production as Jack had originally been planned to be killed off in "Pilot". The pilot's body that was found hanging in the tree was also originally intended to be Jack's.
He was the first crash survivor to be killed by the "Monster" and it took until Day 72 when the "Monster" found its second victim, Eko.
- interesting. locke asked about the monster.seth was killed by the monster and was referenced in this episode. also, when frank lapidus landed the hellicopter he said it was a smooth ride as well. also, he said he always wore a wedding ring. is dharma putting substitues on the plane?

- cow - frank saw one when he woke up. not sure what to make except there are always weird animals on the island.

- sawyer calls locke taller ghost wallet? i replayed this several times and still cant' quite understand but google it and i got a link for beliefs on ghosts spirits and witches about putting money in a wallet.

- locke kept calling sawyer james-
james is derived from the same Hebrew name as Jacob, meaning "grasps by the heel" (in the Genesis narrative, Jacob was born grasping Esau's heel and later bought his birthright). The Epistle of James is a book in the Christian New Testament. The author identifies himself as "James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ", traditionally understood as James the Just, the brother of Jesus (see Authorship and Composition).

Framed within an overall theme of patient perseverance during trials and temptations, the text condemns various sins and calls on Christians to be patient while awaiting the imminent Second Coming.

- dharma put fake people on the flight that worked for them internally. the older pilot guy said no- that's not the guy that flew the plane bc he said he always wore a wedding ring.

i looked up all the mraning of the names:

Ben Linus- Linus (in Greek, Linos) may refer to any of three sons of Apollo from Greek mythology:

Son of Apollo and Urania, he was killed by Apollo during a contest.

Son of Apollo and Psamathe, whose father was the King of Argos. She feared her father and gave the infant Linus to shepherds to raise. He was torn apart by dogs after reaching adulthood and Psamathe was killed by her father, for which Apollo sent a child-killing plague to Argos.

Son of Apollo and Terpsichore, he taught music to Orpheus and Heracles. Heracles killed him with Linus's own lyre after he reprimanded Heracles for making errors. According to other sources, he was the son of the muse Kalliope and the inventor of melody and rhythm. [1]

Other sources have Linus as the son of the muse Urania and Amphimarus (a son of Poseidon). He was killed by Apollo because he rivalled the god in his musical skill.

Charlotte Staples lewis Charlotte Staples Lewis is a reference to the British writer and scholar, Clive Staples Lewis. Lewis is most famous for his works in medieval literature, Christian apologetics, and literay criticism. Both C.S. Lewises attended Oxford University.

Miles Straume The name 'Miles Straume' is a play on the word "maelstrom", which means a powerful whirlpool or a swirling mass of water

Frank Lapidus- name origin- There's a Rick Lapidus in the Exposé script
The name is an anagram for "Farads link up." The Farad is a unit of electrical capacitance, named after physicist Michael Faraday.
A physician named Lapidus developed a technique for treating a condition of the big toe (bunions) caused by excessive bone growth.
THE BIG TOE STATUE!!!!

Daniel Faraday-name origin- Michael Faraday (September 22, 1791 – August 25, 1867) was an English physicist who researched electromagnetism. Michael Faraday's discoveries led to the development of Faraday cages, an enclosure used to block outside radio and electromagnetic waves. James Clerk Maxwell took the work of Faraday, and others, and consolidated it with a set of equations that form the basis of modern theories of electromagnetic phenomena.
