Ben needs to make sure they don't remember the purge. Once you get off the island your memory is fuzzy. They've all been to the island before, as children because their parents were involved. and ben knows they are special to the island, unlike Dharma that came to exploit it.
- Alpert is OLD- i think he's Egyptian (hence the eyeliner-kohl- reference). Alpert needs to protect his land.. also the references to the Ankh, Statue. Those who get off the island have fuzzy memories- which is why hurley semi remembers Libby. we will definitely see her again soon. Also, Dr. Curtis from the institute looks like Pierre Chang/Dr. Candle/Dr. Wickmun/Dr. Hailwax and loos like Mr. Paik.
